Unmarked pages with some yellowing around the edges,shadow of an erased price on upper front flyleaf. Edges have foxing. Cover has very light wear and bumping on the corners. The edges of the spine are worn and tearing but still intact. The spine has some discoloration.

Previous owner's name on title page, below title, else contents unmarked. Smudge on page with list of author's other works, pp 13, 14 with light corner crease..

The contents are clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which remains without loss, just a little toning to the spine. Publisher's 3/6 net price label to the spine, as issued. Very Good+, lightly rubbed along edges, subtle lean; lacking dust jacket, clad in facsimile. Signed by the author on the illustrated front free endpaper, neatly inscribed, "This is the first book I ever autographed - by request - but I hope at least it's legible [signed] Phoebe Atwood Taylor." Apparently this copy is the very first book of her own the Boston author ever signed. A unique copy of her first novel, a comic mystery which debuted Asey Mayo.
