Descripción:
1719 Elements of BOTANY Joseph Tournefort Herbariae PLANTS Flowers Herbal Joseph Pitton de Tournefort was a 17th-century botanist who is best known for his work 'Elements of Botany'. In this book, Tournefort made important contributions to botanical nomenclature, identifying the divisions in flowering plants and make distinctions between genus and species. This 1719 Latin edition entitled 'Institutiones rei Herbariae', collects and describes nearly 7,000 different plant species many of which include impressive botanical illustrations.
Included with this volume are letters written and signed by famed French botanists Louis Claude Marie Richard (1754–1821) and his son, Achille Richard (1794–1852). Both were esteemed botanists of their time and taught at the French National Academy of Medicine.
