He was a great friend of the poet George Herbert: "Nearer the end of Herbert's life, his friend Nicholas Ferrar prepared an English translation, as The Divine Considerations, of a work by the sixteenth-century Castilian humanist, Juan de Valdes, and sent it to Herbert in 1632 for his comments ..."
