Bound in full brown 18th-century speckled calf, spine with raised bands, red morocco label, and gilt floral tooling, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers (some rubbing to spine tips, corners and edges; front outer hinge starting; ome wear to text edges; ink inscription). Remains of the bookplate of Charles Carron.

Full mottle calf bordered in gilt, five raised bands, morocco lettering piece, five compartments decorated in gilt, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers. Bound without the plates, else a very good handsome copy, some offsetting to text, binding rubbed at the extremities.. 347, [1] pp. Head and tail pieces. Lacking plates. 4to. Latin and French on opposite pages. An excellent translation, which first appeared in 1769, and made Delille (1738-1813) quite famous. The translation when through numerous editions in the following year and thereafter. Brunet IV, 1303 (1st). Mambelli 1275.

Bound in contemporary tree-calf, contrasting black morocco lettering-piece, spine richly gilt. Lightly rubbed. Inked ownership initials to FEP, internally clean and crisp. A handsomely bound copy of a late eighteenth-century edition of French poet Jacques Delille's (1738-1813) translation of Classical Roman poet Publius Vergilius Maro's (70-19BC) agricultural epic, the Georgics. . 8vo.

[5], 2-298, [2] pp. Contemporary full mottled calf with the spine in six compartments, a red morocco label lettered in gilt on the spine, gilt decorations and rules on the spine; all edges marbled. Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Publisher's device on the title page, with a few engraved head and tailpieces. New translation into French with notes by M. DeLille. Brunet 661. Graesse 359. The first edition of DeLille's Georgics. Brunet and Graesse are both highly complementary of this translation. Two small chips to the binding, boards moderately bowed.

Name neatly excised from bottom of the title page, small contemporary bookplate of "Fr. Gay", corners a little rubbed, a pleasing, near fine volume.

Half-calf over marbled boards, marbled endpapers, gilt lettrng & compartments on spine, raised bands (rebackd w/ original spine laid-bk down, mnr rubbng & scuffng to crnrs, cvrs), a very good clean copy. First edition, thus of this exceedingly scarce Polyglot edition of the works of Virgil, including the Bucolics, Georgics, and the Aeneid. In addition to the invaluable comparison provided by this multi-lingual edition, there is the excellent bibliography of all the important editions and translations of Virgil up to the early 19th century. Polyglot editions of theological and religious works are fairly common, but not for classical authors such as this work.

En 1937, sous l'impulsion de Gonin, Maillol reprit un projet ébauché en 1908 d'illustrer les Géorgiques. Il le termina en 1944 et ses nombreux bois seront imprimés en 1950 par Gonin.

Sm. folio, unbound as issued in the original printed wrappers, housed in the original chemises, with title printed in black on the spines, and slipcases. A very good set accompanied by the original 4pp. prospectus with two original woodcuts.||Text in Latin with the French translation by L’Abbé Delille and Mme. Michel Roussier on hte facing pages. Maillol began work on this large project with Count Kessler of the Cranach Press in 1908 but failed to complete the woodcuts until just before he died in 1944. It was published posthumously by Gonin who frequently collaborated with Maillol.
