Well-kept copy of this influential book in the history of cancer treatment, illustrated with two plates printed in sepia and other engravings in the text. First edition in book form, with the main portion of the text originally printed in the Cyclopedia of Practical Surgery. Dark green blind-stamped cloth with gilt spine lettering, most likely the original binding, vi, [1], [errata], 351 pages plus 2 plates. Some rubbing to the corners and spine ends, very minor (6mm) chip to rear cover, small wrinkle in spine cloth below the author's name (most likely occurred during binding), good hinges, sound text block, minor edgewear to front free endpaper and preliminary blank, name of Thomas McKennan [or Thomas M Kennan] at top of title page and on endpapers, pages very clean and unmarked, no discernible foxing. A clean and sound copy.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
