In good only slipcase shows wear and toning with some splits at edges.

One of 695 numbered copies designed by Monroe Wheeler and printed under the supervision of Jan van Krimpen at Joh. Enschede en Zonen on Dutch Pannekoek pure-rag paper. The first book to be printed in van Krimpen's twelve-point Romanee type. This copy is signed by Wescott and additionally inscribed by him to Louise Bogan and designated "Louise Bogan's copy" in Wescott's hand at the head of the colophon page. A fine, entirely unopened copy in archival mylar, in the original slipcase with cover label that is missing the front of the top and bottom panels and has two small tape repairs.

It is curious that this copy is not signed by Wesctott. Copy number 1 of the ordinary issue: it was gifted at "Xmas to Agnes [ Mongan?, the art historian] by Lincoln Kirstein in 1932.
