Pocket remnant inside the covers, and very top of the frontice (~1/2") trimmed. No xlib stamps. Slightest rub mark on the spine, which may be from library label. Looking at the book, you can't tell it is x lib. The gilt is very clean & bright, as are the covers. Slightest rubbing of the corners, less than normal shelfwear. Hinges are tight. The book would easily grade "fine", if not for the xlib. ; Ex-Library; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 505 pages .

All 3 vols have spines damaged and had missing portions, now restored. Spines have have gold long-stemmed "lilies" with scarab beetles on top; the front covers in gold show a Pharoah on a "swing seat", slightly rubbed. The edges are NOTworn and the corners are only very slightly bumped or not at all. No ownership markings. The previous owner took great care of this set. Taking into account the normal wear expected for books 140 years old, this set is in very good condition. Description: Relatively tight binding, unmarked pages, light surface and edge-wear, light nicks on boards, most pronounced on rear board of volume 3. First published in 1837, The Quarterly Review referred to Wilkinson's minutely detailed and superbly illustrated work as a "restoration to life, as it were, of the ancient Pharaohs, and their subjects".
