Red cloth with a black and white illustrated frontis and illustrated plates throughout. Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Moderate tanning to pages with heavier tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Visible tanning to text block edges and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Binding is loose with visible water damage to rear pastedown. Boards have visible rubbing and moderate bumping to corners. Heavy crushing to spine ends and splitting to joints.

Illustrated with b&w photos. plus several reprinted cartoons. Wister and Roosevelt were friends for forty years; this is a collection of letters and other reminiscences; part biography, part autobiography.

The Macmillan Company, January 1930. Hardcover. Used/Poor. Third printing. Yellow wrapper with black text is very worn with numerous tears and chips. Wrapper has been repaired and placed in mylar. Black cloth covered boards with gilt text on the spine. Previous owner's name in ink on the inside front cover. Various prices have been written in pencil on the back end page. The author was a close personal friend of Roosevelts and the author of The Virginian.

Cracking to hinges with exposed binding, causing boards to be loose. Binding is shaky. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with small splits and fraying to cloth. Scuffing and light marking overall. Mild tanning to spine and edges.
