First US edition, preceded by its UK counterpart of the same year. Part of the plot of Bill The Conqueror was used for the book of the Kern-Bolton-Wodehouse musical of the same year, Sitting Pretty, which opened in New York in April, 1924 -- six months before the book's publication, and a month before its serialisation began in the SEP. An extremely attractive copy of a book rarely seen in such nice condition. McIlvaine A33b
