Dublin, Ireland: The Cuala Press, 1926. One of 300 copies, unnumbered as was the Cuala custom. Pale blue paper-covered boards with buff linen spine and a paper label. Browning to free endpapers where unprotected by the jacket; faint in front, darker in the rear. Otherwise immaculate, with none of the browning to the boards which is the norm with Cuala Press titles; text leaves unopened. The remains of the original dustjacket (lacking spine) are included; this has the title and author written in pencil on the front. The jacket has not factored into the price. Previous owner's name present to the front pastedown. Light discoloration present to the FFEP. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. As the extended title indicates, this is a book comprised of 55 diary notes made by Yeats during the year 1909, issued by a private press directed by his sister Elizabeth. Established in 1903 (as the Dun Emer Press) and then renamed in 1908, the Cuala Press was established to promote modern Irish literature and reprint or translate classic Irish works. In this volume, Yeats often expresses pithy remarks as if channeling the "Maxims" of La Rochefoucauld. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
