Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Book has a forward lean. Boards are bowed. Light wear to clipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Light tanning to spine and edges.

Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Size: 225mm x 145mm. Pages: x, 235. Fully indexed. Thus a very good copy.

VG-Fine/Good-VG. 14.5 Cm x 22 Cm. xi+235; only flaw I can find is brown strips alongside endpaper gutters offset from jacket wraparounds, covers bright, clean and unworn but I must note a cryptic gilt 'O.C.P.M.' centre spine which looks part and parcel of spine lettering; unclipped jacket (now in protective sleeve) is minimally work but front has two fairly faint brownish grease (?) stains, one top, one bottom roughly 3-4 cms across, also what appears to be some light dusting, which might be removeable with care - ah! It also has O.C.P.M.. printed mid-way down. I now realise that this is short for Oxford Classical & Philosophical Monographs, the series in which this was issued. Jacket remains acceptable despite the faults to front which are hardly dramatic. The first edition of this ground-breaking study by a great Locke scholar is now apparently extremely scarce.
