This is a splendid, comprehensive survey of agriculture in the county. As a frontispiece there is a good detailed multi-folding map. Previous owner's attractive bookplate on front end paper. In original plum coloured buckram gilt hard cover binding which is faded very slightly along the extreme top edge. Very Good++ in Very Good+ pictorial dust wrapper which has faded very slightly on the spine and bears a small dealer sticker on the front. A very substantial book. WILL REQUIRE EXTRA POSTAGE OUTSIDE UK.

Useful facsimile reprint of Young's 1813 work. Although not a successful farmer, Young [ 1741 - 1820 ] built up for himself a substantial reputation as an expert on agricultural improvement. He was appointed secretary of the Board of Agriculture in 1793. The works written for the Board constitute an invaluable source for farming practices at the end of the eighteenth century and the period of the Napoleonic wars.
