Don's manuscript, This Forgotten Land was the recipient of the 2001 Nan Netherton award presented by the Fairfax County History Commission and his book, This Forgotten Land, Volume II, received a special History award from the Alexandria Historical Society and received the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal Award from the United Daughters of the Confederacy Loudoun Chapter 170.
