Early full leather binding, though now missing spine covers and both boards are present but detached. Title page with six inch closed tear, and a couple smaller tears. Folding plate following page 28, "Freight Locomotive (Consolidation Type) for the Pennsylvania Railroad at the Centennial Exhibition is very good. Folding plate of "Double Truck Locomotive" following page 222 is also very good. Large folding plate following page 234 and titled "Plan of Tracks, West Philadelphia Yard, Pennsylvania Rail Road" has been misfolded and there is now some deterioration along four inches of one fold.
