With six engravings of fish and two pages of music. The book is bound in the publisher's brown cloth with gilt titles on the spine. See Coigney 100. A very good book with light wear to the spine ends and a previous owner’s armorial bookplate on the front paste down. .

This is the third Stock facsimile, without a publication date on the title page. It includes a facsimile of the 1653 title page. Six engravings of fish in the text. You can check out Rodolphe Coigney’s bibliography on Walton and his description of this book on pages 92-93, 102-103 for a consummate distillation on its publication. There’s a nineteenth century wet fly laid-in the book. The book is bound in contemporary full brown morocco with yapped edges and the letters "IZ WA" in gilt on the front cover, with slender red silk ties. A little foxing to the preliminaries, and there’s a small St. Charles College library label on the front end paper. Very good..

A few plates with minor foxing but overall a very nice copy clean and crisp with large margins. Seventeen full-page plates and numerous text illustrations. One of the most often reprinted books in English literature and the most famous book on fishing ever printed. A celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse. It was first published in 1653 and Walton continued to add to it for a quarter of a century. In 1676 Charles Cotton, Waltons friend and fellow angler added to his work and completed his instruction in fly fishing and the making of flies.
