Reade was an English dramatist, novelist, and journalist, b.1814-d.1884, who wrote with charm on a variety of subjects and in differing genre. Other stories in this volume are "Jack of All Trades (A Matter-of-Fact Romance)" and "A Hero and a Martyr".

Limited Edition de Luxe of 1000 sets, this one No. 219. 25 volumes, complete, in original matching olive cloth hard covers with title-labels to spines. Moderate handling, scuffing, and discoloration to covers; toning to spines and edges. Some staining to upper edges. A few endpapers cracked at hinges but still firm. Otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. A neat set, and still in handsome enough state. Illustrated -- plates, some in colour. No additional shipping upcharge if shipping within Canada/USA..

Light age toning to pages, but all bindings are tight and square. No markings, creases, or tears. Individual titles of works printed on spines.

Reade (1814-84) was an English novelist and dramatist. Included in this complete edition of his works is It's Never Too Late to Mend, written with the purpose of reforming abuses in prison discipline and the treatment of criminals. He is best known for The Cloister and the Hearth.
