Near fine, number 528 of 1500 limited edition, signed by the printer and by the illustrator on the colophon page, also included is original monthly letter of The Limited Editions Club and a specifications page of this publication. The book is without writing or marks, clean and crisp throughout. The spine is lightly foxed and the title box faded. The slipcase is without tears, very clean and sturdy. Lightly faded on one side. Illustrated green and cream colored boards bound in quarter linen spine. Designed and printed by G. Mardersteig at the Officina Bodoni and illustrated with etchings by Hans Erni. Translated into English verse under the direction of Sir Samuel Garth by John Dryden, Alexander Pope, Joseph Addison, and William Congreve.

Robert and Andrew Foulis, Printers to the University, 1775. First Thus. Leather Binding. Very Good. 7 volumes, as issued 1775-1776. This tasteful Foulis pocket-sized edition is beautifully and uniformly bound in full polished brown calf of the period, spines feature twin red morocco labels, and gilt-tooled musical and floral motifs and repeated gilt rules, marbled endpapers (spines have minor wear and some trifling nicks, boards have light wear; there is some trifling dampstaining to uppermost text corners). A delightful and attractive little set in period dress, entirely unrestored. PROVENANCE: From the library of of William Hughes of Widcombe, with his neat ownership inscriptions in each volume.
