Minor wear to head and heel of spine, small stain on front board and faint call letters on spine. 65 b/w plates including 4 Colored plates: The Old Gates (no tissue) ; Fort Marion (tissued) ; Live Oak (tissue folded) ; Palmettos on the St. John's (tissued). Etching for "An Old House" at page 172 separated but present. Varying degrees of foxing throughout. This appears to be one of the more uncommon bindings. Copies bound in two-toned cloth bindings (the more common binding) were probably intended for the English trade, states Merle Johnson in "American First Editions.. 8vo., pictorial green cloth, stamped in two shades of brown & gilt; top edge gilt; 200 pages.
