New York, 1959. Original Program . Oversize Paper. 20pg. uncommon souvenir program for a now forgotten musical that starred Gwen Verdon & Richard Kiley both of whom won Tony Awards for their performances over very little competition. The show also won a Best Musical award again over very little competition. Directed by Bob Fosse. From later in the run, (critical blurbs on back cover) but with the original cast. Near fine.

New York: Leland Hayward, 1951. Original Program . Oversize Paper. 20pg. souvenir program for the play that was based on the novel by John P. Marquand that starred Henry Fonda. Produced in 1951 the program is from later in the run (critical blurbs) but with the original cast that included Fonda, Leora Dana and John Cromwell the director/actor who won a supporting actor Tony for his performance. Light wear vg.

New York: Irene Mayer Selznick, 1955. Original Program . Large Paper. An original 16pg. souvenir program for Enid Bagnold's play "The Chalk Garden." The program is from later in the production when Judith Anderson took over the lead from Siobhán McKenna. Also in the cast was Gladys Cooper who originated the role of the grandmother with a troubled granddaughter. Sceney and costumes were done by Cecil Beaton. Later made into a film with Deborah Kerr as the concerned governess. Fine.

New York: Manuel Davis, 1953. Original Souvenir Program . Large Paper. An original 20pg. souvenir program for the Broadway musical from later in its 2 year run and with the replacement cast. Cover art work by Al Hirschfeld. Winner of the 1954 Tony Award for best musical. Soft bottom corner crease to the program. Vg.

New York: U.S. Steel/The Theatre Guild, 1952. Original Programs . Paper. A nice collection of 13 foldover programs for plays that were done on the radio in the early 1950's presented by U.S. Steel and the Theatre Guild. The plays presented were a varied lot ie. 1984, Over 21, Man and Superman, Trilby and others and featured some of the biggest names in Hollywood and Broadway including Rex Harrison, Tyrone Power, Deborah Kerr, Judith Anderson and many many others. Each program is a foldover with bios on the stars along with their portraits and some have diagrams of the Belasco Theatre where the plays were broadcast from. The production Relfected Glory was to star Bette Davis, but her name is crossed out, and ill is written next to it, but there is a nice portrait of her along with her bio. Light wear to some of the programs, with some of the programs missing the Belasco diagrams, and also most of the programs are missing the cover pg. . Uncommon. Vg. Sold as a collection only.

Large Paper. 4pg. foldover preview program for Star Trek The Undiscovered Country that HAS BEEN SIGNED ON THE BACK OF THE PROGRAM BY GEORGE TAKEI. IN ADDITION LAID IN THE PROGRAM IS COLOR STILL OF DeFOREST KELLY AND JAMES DOOHAN THAT HAS BEEN INSCRIBED BY JAMES DOOHAN. ALSO LAID IN IS A PRINT OUT SHEET WITH A SMALL COLOR PHOTO OF BRENT SPINER AS DATA FROM STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION THAT HAS BEEN INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY HIM. Light wear. Vg.

Hollywood: Universal Pictures, 1983. Original Program . Paper. LAID IN IS A SMALL WHITE INDEX CARD THAT HAS BEEN INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AL PACINO. Nice rare 1 page 9" x 12" preview program with a lift up flap for Brian DePalma's over the top remake of the Howard Hawk classic. The film starred Al Pacino in a legend making performance as Tony Montana whose nationality for this version was changed from Italian to Cuban. The film was long, violent and profane and was a huge hit with audiences. Pacino's signature is uncommon. Light wear to the program. Vg. Also included is a nice full color collection of eight 8" x 11" scene cards that are printed on heavy stock paper. All of the cards with the exception of 1 card features Pacino. One card has a very faint soft and hardly noticeable corner crease, otherwise the cards are near fine and very scarce. Sold as a collection only.

New York: Jose Ferrer, 1945. Original Program . Oversize Paper. Original 16pg. souvenir program from the play that Lilllian Smith wrote based on her own novel about racial prejudice and segregation as seen through the eyes of a Southern white woman, (Ms. Smith). The play had a short run of only 60 perfromances and was directed by Jose Ferrer with a cast that included Mel Ferrer, Jane White, Juano Hernandez and Earl Jones (the father of James). Illustrated and with several printed signatures. The nice green covers are loose, the insides are fragile bu v.g. and uncommon.

New York: Madison Square Garden, 1938. Original Program . Ovesize Paper. Nice 20pg. original souvenir program for a popular ice skating show. The program is highlighted by attractive bold yellow, red and black artwork cover of a girl skating and is illustrated with many photos. Includes full pg. ads for Sonja Henie and the back cover has an ad for the Joan Crawford movie "Ice Follies of 1939". Average light wear and some minute soiling to the front cover. Vg.

New York: George Jessel, 1941. Original Program . Large Paper. Uncommon 12pg. large souvenir program for a war time musical revue that starred George Jessel and Sophie Tucker. The show ran for a respectable 171 performances. Illustrated with blue tinted photos including a nice photo montage of showgirls on the back cover. Small chip to the bottom edge and a mend using archival tape to the verso of the top corner of the front cover. Vg.

New York: The Manhattan Theatre Club, 1978. Original Program . Large Oblong Paper. Nice 20pg. souvenir program for the award winning and popular musical that was based on the life and music of Fats Waller. The show ran for 1604 performances and won Tonys for Best Musical, director and a supporting muscial Tony for Nell Carter. The program is signed by CHARLIANE WOODWARD (ON THE COVER), NELL CARTER, ANDRE SHIELDS, ARMELIA McQUEEN, KEN PAGE & RICHARD MALTBY JR. (the director of the show) Illustrated with many photos + critical blurbs on the back cover which indicates that the program is from later in its long run. Vg.

Hollywood: Warner Books, 1983. Original Program . Oversize Oblong Paper. Very nice large oblong 16pg. program for the exciting and well received epic movie about the early days of space exploration that received several Oscars along with a nomination for Best Picture. Printed on heavy stock glossy paper and illustrated throughout with color photos It seems that this program was handed out at press screenings and not sold in theatres. Light wear and some minor creasing. Uncommon. Vg.

New York: Random House, 1956. First Edition . Oversize laminated Bds.. Nice 78pg. souvenir program that was the first program to be issued in hardcover for Mike Todd's big budget all star Oscar winner of 1956 that was based on the Jules Verne novel. Well illustrated with many photos some in color, and an intro. by Edward R. Murrow. Both Todd and Art Cohn would be killed in a plane crash shortly after the film won the best picture Oscar. Todd was the colorful showman and producer who was married briefly to Elizabeth Taylor. Very light wear to the lamination especially to the top and bottom of the spine panel. Vg.

Hollywood: Columbia Pictures, 1962. First Edition . Oversize Paper. 40pg. original souvenir program from the roadshow engagement of the big Oscar winner of 1962 that has easily stood the test of time. Directed by David Lean and starring Peter OToole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jose Ferrer, Claude Rains, and Jack Hawkins. This was Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif's breakthrough film both of whom were nominated for Oscars. The program is illustrated with color photos including several fold-outs and 2 die-cut pages. The program has art direction by Henry Wolf. A nostagic ticket stub from its road show engagement ($3.00) is glued to the top of the inside cover which has left a small shadow on the title pg. Very light soiling to the white covers. Vg+

New York: David Merrick, 1958. Original Program . Oversize Paper. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY LENA HORNE ON THE FRONT COVER. ALSO LAID IN IS A PLAYBILL THAT HAS BEEN INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY LENA HORNE AND RICARDO MONTALBAN. 20pg. original souvenir program and playbill from the 1958 musical that starred the great Lena Horne and Ricardo Montalban. Laid in the program is an original photograph from the musical. The show had a very decent run of 555 performances and was nominated for 7 Tony Awards. Corner crease and light wear to the program. Vg. Also included is 20pgs. large souvenir program for "Lena Horne: The Lady And Her Music" THAT HAS BEEN SIGNED IN SILVER INK BY MS. HORNE on the front cover. Ms. Horne did this one woman concert for 333 performances and won many awards including a special Tony. The program is from later in the run and has wear, some creasing to the covers which is mirrored throughout. Sold as a collection only.

Hollywood: Metro Goldwyn Mayer, 1963. First Edition . Large glazed Bds.. Uncommon 36pg. hardcover souvenir program for the old fashion epic western that was one of the first narrative films to be shot in the new and "improved" cinerama process. The large cast reads like a who's who of Hollywood at that time : John Wayne, Stewart, Peck, Henry Fonda, along with a large supporting cast. Nominated for 8 Oscars including best picture??? the film won for best original screenplay over 8 1/2 and Hud. Go figure. Laid in the program is a nice and rare color promo postcard for the movie. Fine.

New York: Random House, 1960. First Edition . Boards with Dustjacket. The rarely seen hardcover edition of the souvenir program for Otto Preminger's big sprawling epic about the birth of modern Israel that had an star cast including Paul Newman, Eva Marie Saint, Lee J. Cobb, Sal Mineo & John Derek. The film only received 3 Oscar nominations including one for Sal Mineo and won for best score. Illustrated with b&w and color photos. Saul Bass design on the front of the dustjacket which has some mends and tears. Light browning to edges of the pages which is common for this program. LAID IN THE BOOK IS A SMALL PIECE OF PAPER "WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF OTTO PREMINGER." which leads me to believe that this hardcover edition was intended for the press and friends of the director. The paper has light wear. Vg/vg-

Boston: Judith Anderson. Original Letter . Paper. An original undated handwritten note in ink on small Ritz-Carlton Hotel stationary from the late great Actress Dame Judith Anderson to the author and poet Conrad Aiken. The note reads "Dear Mr. Aiken many thanks for your excitingly truthy "The Earthy Mystery" (this part is hard to make out, so this is my best guess) It is indeed a lot to live up to I hope that I will not fail. Most sincerely yours, Judith Anderson. Ms. Anderson was a fine theatre and sometime film actress who is probably most known for her iconic performance as Mrs. Danvers in Hitchcock's Rebecca for which she received her only Oscar nomination. Aiken's is of course the noted poet who won a Pulitzer Prize and the author of both fiction and poetry. Vg. Also included is a very nice large 20pg. souvenir program for "Medea" which was one of Anderson's most famous roles. Fine. Sold as a collection only.

Uncommon 36pg. souvenir program for the film version of the Lerner & Loewe Broadway musical that starred the unlikely Lee Marvin, Clint Eastwood and Jean Seberg, needless to say the film was a huge flop. Covers designed by Peter Max. Illustrated with b&w and color photos and stills. Very minute soiling to the mostly white covers. Vg+
