Inscribed by the author on the half title page "For Joe - Hewey Calloway rides again - Elmer Kelton 9/12/98". Hewey Calloway was the main character in Kelton's early novel The Good Old Boys.

Just a touch of edgewear to the covers. Pages are unnumbered. Faint darkening to front endpapers where a newspaper clipping is laid in. The jacket has tiny chips at corners and spine ends, and a small pull on the front panel which affects part of one letter. Includes a bibliography and an index; 434 pages. $5.00 price is present on front flap; a tight and square copy.

The slipcase has one small ink mark that is barely visible. #75 of 300 copies with marbled endpapers and green cloth, dark green leather spine, and four raised bands with gilt lettering. Edited and with an Introduction by E. C. Barksdale, includes endnotes and an index; 206 pages. This special edition is the first volume of the publications of the Jenkins Garrett Foundation.

NY: Random House; (1952). Special Edition . Hardcover. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Small owner's stamp on endpapers; otherwise a fresh, crisp copy. The jacket has small chips at spine ends, and a little wear at edges. "Special Edition" stated on the copyright page. The second front endpaper states: "This special edition was printed exclusively for Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. to commemorate the christening of their floating drilling vessel the Spindletop. The vessel was christened on February 2, 1968, at Orange, Texas, by Mrs. W. H. Helmerich." At the bottom of the front panel of the jacket is printed: "Christening Edition February 2, 1968".

A little soiling to the boards; gift inscription on front endpaper. A paper clip was affixed to the top of the front endpaper, leaving an impression on that page and the following page. Bookplate that says "Advance copy 10/25/73" and has a signature of Howard Weaver (?) - last name is illegible. Signed by the author on the half title page. Illustrations by Ancel E. Nunn; no dust jacket or slipcase.

Evetts Haley on the dedication page; and inscribed by the editor, Evetts Haley, Jr. on the first page of the Introduction which he wrote. All inscriptions are to Melba Kelton Younce, Elmer Kelton's first cousin, and the Haley inscriptions are dated 12/15/92, the publication date. Twenty-eight sketches of cowboys who had an impact on the Texas cattle industry, with drawings by multiple artists. Includes map endpapers, end section on brands and the ranches that used them, and an index; 287 pages.
