NY: Avalon Books; (1989). First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. Near fine in a fine dust jacket. An Avalon Western set in the Wichita Mountains of Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper. Owner's name, date, and place at top of front pastedown.

NY: Macaulay Company; (1936). First Edition . Hardcover. Ex- lending library copy in original green cloth. Multiple stamps on both sets of endpapers; rear flap of jacket is glued to rear pastedown. Front hinge is a little separated at half title page.

NY: Longmans, Green & Company, 1934. First Edition . Hardcover. Very good+ with no dust jacket. Orangeish cloth is just slightly sunned on the spine. Owner's signature on blank page facing title page; evidence of erasure of pencil notes on rear free endpaper. Inscribed by the author at the top of the front endpaper: "Tulsa, November 15, 1934/with pleasure/John Joseph Mathews". The Osage author's second book and first novel, and scarce signed at the time the book was released. This copy has the rear panel of the jacket, which is a photograph of the author, trimmed slightly and glued to the front pastedown, and what appears to be the front flap of the jacket, also trimmed, and glued to the rear pastedown.

NY: Simon & Schuster; (1976). First Edition . Hardcover. Very good in a very good dust jacket. The page block has a dampstain on the bottom 1" or so at the rear half of the book. The jacket has a little edgewear, and a tape repair at the bottom of the front panel.

Boston: Dodd Mead & Company; (1977). Hardcover. Probable reprint (last date on copyright page is 1948, but the Library of Congress catalogue number begins with "77"), near fine in a very good dust jacket. Light soiling on page edges. The jacket has a little wear, and the spine is sunned. $3.95 price is present on front flap; no names or other markings in book.

Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper, and signed by the illustrator, Murv Jacob, on the half title page and dated in 1994. The fourth book in the author's series, The Real People, about Cherokee culture and history.

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1960. First Edition . Hardcover. Ex-library copy with no dust jacket. Gray cloth boards with blue lettering on spine and blue illysreatiuon on front board. Typical library markings; a little wear and soiling to boards. A juvenile novel by the author of Shane. Illustrations by Harold West.

NY: Popular Library; (1950). First Thus . Mass Market Paperback. First paperback edition (Popular Library #261), near fine in original wraps. Bright and clean. The very tip of the lower edge of the page block shows a tiny dampstain (almost invisible). A very nice copy.

NY: Popular Library; (1948). First Thus . Mass Market Paperback. First paperback edition (Popular Library #161), very good+ in original wraps. A little edgewear to the covers, light creasing to front cover. Colors still bright and sharp o n front cover.

NY: Duell, Sloan & Pearce; (1947). First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Presumed first edition (no statement of printing on the copyright page) very good in a good to very good dust jacket. The book is tight and square, with no names or other markings. The top edge and foredge of the page block are dusty and spotted. The jacket has numerous chips at spine ends and corners, A larger chip at the bottom of the rear panel affects the blurb about the author. Includes map endpapers; 558 pages. $3.00 price is present on front flap. The basis for the James Stewart western Broken Arrow.

NY: Holt Rinehart & Winston; (1969). First Edition . Hardcover. Dust Jacket Included. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. The front board is almost imperceptibly bowed; the jacket has a little wear at the lower corners and a couple of tiny nicks at the spine ends. The Oklahoma author's third novel, set in Indian Territory during the last half of the 19th century. Inscribed on the half title page: "To the Clintons/John H. Culp".

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1882. Hardcover. Later printing (copyright date is 1875), very good lacking a dust jacket. Dark brown cloth is slightly worn; gilt lettering on spine is still bright. Owner's bookplate on front pastedown, faint stamp on second front endpaper. Hinges are tight, dark brown endpapers just slightly spotted. A tight, square copy.

Dark green cloth is slightly rubbed, with some wear at corners and spine ends; gilt lettering on spine is still bright. Owner's bookplate on front pastedown, faint stamp on second front endpaper.
