Ilustrated with small photos and short texts on the fifty-five artists. "artists who operate outside established norms and could be characterized as mavericks, rebels, iconoclasts or misfits." Fine.

Illustrated with 100's of his quirky drawings, prints and sketches along with 100's examples of his letters to friends and his wife the artist Joanna Beall who has also contributed a personal biographical sketch. Illustrated in b&w and color. Terrific book. Small price label stain on the front endsheet otherwise a fine copy in a fine dustjacket.

A fine copy in a fine dustjacket of a book that is rich with the wonderful photographer and artist's photography from the 20's, 30's and 40's. Nicely printed and produced.

New York City: Dodd Mead & Co., 1933. First American Edition . Small Cloth with Dustjacket. Man & God once more with Shaw, this time its a black girl in search for God. A controversial book when published. The title page, superb endpapers and 19 beautiful wood engravings are by John Farleigh and are outstanding. Laid in the book is a rare small copy of a reprint of the period of the book of the month club news which has Heywood Broun writing about the book. The dustjacket is near fine with a few minute small chips and the book itself is fine.

New York City: Horace Liveright, 1925. First Edition . Large Cloth Lacking Dj.. Strange story by Van Loon who has also done the remarkable vividly colored full page illustrations that would be right at home in a Chelsea art gallery. Lacking the rare dustjacket, but the book with the exception of a tiny dent to the front edge of the cloth and light tanning to the nice endsheets is fine and did I say that the illustrations are magnificent.

Hard to put one's finger on his work, surreal, gentle odd and above all wonderful. Color covers with black and white comics inside featuring Quimby the mouse. a touch of light wear to the cover, otherwise a near fine copy.

Illustrated with many stunning bold full color drawings along with many two color drawings. The illustratd boards is fine, spotless and sharip, the dustjacket with the same design as the covers is also vg+ with very little wear, the book itself is amazingly fine, and sharp. Neat former owner signature on the front pastedown. A stunning copy.
