Many of the color illustrations are full page and the illustration (as on the endpapers) is of the classic early 20th century type with plenty of detail and strongly drawn striking images and colors. The 192 pages of the teacher's section ends with a bibliography for the excerpted stories. This is a brilliant copy. The Colors laid down for the cover decoration of a boy and girl walking in the rain under an umbrella are bright and completely undiminished as are the spine titles. The book is very tight, square, clean, unmarked and unblemished, with brght white exterior edges (excepting the barest hint of dust on the top edge). Oblong quarto, tangerine colored cloth covered boards with full page (11.5" x 9") color paste on illustration of indian brave speaking to a circle of listeners in his teepee. 80 pp. Very generously illustrated throughout with a parade of small figures in black and white or alternately in color around each page. Also of course there are 11 full page full color illustrations by "El Comancho" to the traditional Native American stories and legends in the book. The border figures are more than ornamental as there are over 320 individual notations in the rear of the book which identify and describe the significance and origin of each of those border figures. This copy is in excellent condition with a perfect pastedown and all plates in excellent unblemished condition.
