Hardcover, quarter-leather binding, black leather spine and corners, marbled boards, nicely-preserved copy of this pre-Civil War publication, binding is tight and square and the contents are clean and free of foxing, there are two gentle vertical creases on most of the pages but they have done no damage, this is a minor flaw, the leather is worn at the corner-tips and there are some small worn areas on the spine, 590 pages, many topics, some illustrations also .

Flexible faux leather covers, 242 pages, 43 illustrations, the author was Director of Instruction at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, this is an ex-library copy from the School of Nursing, Hahnemann Hospital, the only library markings are an ownership stamp on the inside of the front cover and a card pocket on the inside of the rear cover, the binding is tight and clean, there is a bit of edge-wear at the bottom front corner and the spine-title is faded but readable, the contents are perfect with no markings at all .
