Canada: HarperCollins, 2002 Original dustjacket. Age and shelf wear to d/j - edges worn, corners bumped. Clean text pages, no internal markings. Tight copy. First Edition. Canadian Edition. "Like Jurassic Park, the novel serves as a cautionary tale about developments in science and technology; in this case, nanotechnology, genetic engineering and artificial intelligence. The book features relatively new advances in the computing/scientific community, such as artificial life, emergence (and by extension, complexity), genetic algorithms, and agent-based computing. The novel is narrated by the protagonist Jack Forman, who is an unemployed software programmer who used to work for a company called Media Tronics when he was fired for discovering an internal scandal."

Oxford, UK: Lion Hudson, 2011 238 pages. New book - no internal markings, clean text pages - recently published. "The poems in this anthology - chosen by sufferers themselves - powerfully respond to the deepest and most private thoughts and feelings that commonly preoccupy the seriously ill but are difficult to articulate or even recognize. Among them are poems of quietness and gratitude, prayers and spiritual verse." The editor of this anthology was a musician and publisher's editor before falling ill with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome more than 20 years ago. The anthology grew out of his fortuitous discovery of the extraordinary healing effect of Poetry Therapy, which makes use of verse that is relevant to the reader's experience - in this case, poems written by poets who themselves experienced illness or other life challenges. The collection is divided into 7 parts reflecting the emotional and spiritual path most sufferers from serious illness follow: Part I: O Rose, Thou Art… Leer más

Descripción:
London, U.K. : Jonathan Cape, 1980 With a foreword by the English historian C.V. Wedgwood who worked at Cape. Tight Copy. No internal markings, clean text pages. Original dustjacket - price clipped. At the age of 50 towards the end of the First World War, the poet W.H. Davies decided it was time for him to effect a change in his life-style and to seek a wife who would share a new life in the country. With disarming honesty, not to say bluntness as to the acts, yet with humour and delicacy, Davies records his trial runs with three women before he finally meets Emma, then pregnant, as she alights from a bus in the Edgware Road. He describes with beguiling innocence the love that develops before calamity overtakes them. When Jonathan Cape first received the manuscript in 1924, he feared that its publication might damage Davies' reputation. At Davies' death in 1940 Cape tried to publish it again but were advised against publication. In 1979, Davies' widow (Emma) died and Cape were… Leer más
