Descripción:
This book consists of three fairy tales. The first one is about kids who got lost in the forest and asked wild animals how to find a forester house. The second one tells about a kite that quarreled with birds. The third is devoted to a caterpillar which became a butterfly. These stories were illustrated by May Miturich (Miturich-Khlebnikov, 1925–2008), an artist, nephew of futurist poet Velimir Khlebnikov and son of avant-garde artist Vera Khlebnikova. He studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute, where later he taught. In 2005 Mirutich was awarded the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun. The book is from the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), an artist, who studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. In 1962 Shmeleva participated in the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Union of Artist at the Central Exhibition Hall (Manège) which was severely criticized by Nikita Khrushchev. This event marked the end of the period called as the Khrushchev Thaw.First… Leer más

First and only edition. This book is devoted to the little girl Kinko Hayashi and her friend, the boy Hiroshi from Kyoto. One day, miss Cassady from America visits Kinko's house and forces her mother to sale rare dolls which grandfathers made. But mother's colleagues from the tram depot and neighbors confront her. The author, Far East historian, translator and war correspondent Lev Rubinshtein (1905-1995) in the late 1920s participated in OBERIU (The Union of Real Art) meetings and was close with avant-garde poets Daniil Kharms and Nikita Oleynikov. He dreamed of visiting Japan, but got to a hospital on the eve of departure. Despite this the story was written knowledgeably. In 1981, he emigrated to the USA. The book was illustrated by the female graphic artist Valentina Lazarevskaya (1910-1973). She studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. The book is from the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), an artist, who also studied under Bielutin. In 1962… Leer más

Rare. This coloring book about Chinese toys includes images of clay dolls (one rocking), wooden figurines, whistle, cloth tiger, paper lanterns, etc.The book was created by Nina Obrucheva (1902-2004), a graphic and theatre artist who studied at VKhUTEMAS under Iliya Mashkov. In the late 1950s the relations between Mao Zedong and Nikita Khushchev became deeply strained following Khrushchev's de-Stalinization of the USSR and US-Soviet collaboration. On July 16, 1960 the USSR recalled all its specialists from China. This coloring book was signed for print on November 30, 1959. Most likely, it was one of the late traces of the Sino-Soviet friendship. We couldn't trace any copy of this edition in USA or European libraries via OCLC.

Moskva, OGIZ, Molodaya gvardiya, 1931.Limited to 200 000 copies.First edition.
This rare Soviet activity book describes how to make origami balloons in team, where everyone has their own role. However, it isn't just an activity book, it's the uncommon 'guide for the new mind for people of the future', which briefly explains the principles of using conveyor belt. In 1928 Stalin introduced an economic policy based on a cycle of Five-Year Plans. That's why, for many years one of the key tasks of the Soviet ideology was to raise new generation of workers ready to fight for a socialist future. Lenin's wife and the Soviet Union's Deputy Minister of Education, Nadezhda Krupskaya wrote about the importance of work skills and habits for younger generation: 'Polytechnical education must inspire the younger generation with the romantic character of socialist economic development and enable them to participate in building socialism… Lenin particularly noted Marx's statement in the first volume of Das Kapital… Leer más

Descripción:
This book, comprising two stories, was written by Dukenbai Doszhanov (1942-2013), a Kazakh writer, journalist, and editor. Probably, it was first published in Russian in 1974.The first story, Good Old Granddad Beknur, follows a young man on a journey across the vast steppe. Along the way, he stops at a solitary yurt and encounters an old shepherd whom he remembers from his childhood. The story concludes with the poignant realization that there is nothing more precious to a person than their homeland and the countryside. In the second story, The Little Jockey, we delve into the protagonist's childhood. Dalabai, who has been racing horses since the tender age of six, is now ten years old and entrusted with riding Kerkiik to defend the honor of the entire district of Karatau. Dalabai embarks on the race of his life, determined to prove himself worthy of his esteemed ancestors. Ultimately, he earns the admiration of his father, who proudly declares, "You are a worthy son of your great forefathers!"In 1979,… Leer más

Descripción:
First Russian book about baseball.
This game guide includes brief gameplay of diabolo and pushball. But especially interesting is the third part devoted to baseball rules, positions and players. Russian modification of baseball is lapta, a folk game, first known to be played in the XIVth century. The word 'baseball' was translated into Russian as 'bezbol', which could be read like 'without ball'.
