Galesburg, IL: Animal Mitchell Publication, 1974. Pamphlet. [8]p., illustrations, wraps. 8.5 x 5.5 in. Minor discoloration to edges of wrappers. Very Good. Satirical comic book zine about farm life. Stories on shoveling manure, rendering works, an imagined battle between pigs and humans, and more. Stanford was a Berkeley & Santa Cruz student and observer of the anti-war movement who moved to NYC and became an editor at Viking Penguin working with the likes of Ken Kesey, Art Spiegelman and Garry Trudeau.

Leetonia, OH: Jacob W. Shoutz, 1876. Handbill. Single sheet, 11 x 8.5 in. Illustration signed in plate: "Bureau of Illustration, Buffalo, N.Y." Edges chipped; creased; mild dust soiling. Crude paper repair and pencil markings on rear. Good. Illustrated advertisement poster showing a man operating a cultivator driven by a pair of horses.

Old fold lines; illustrations partially faded. Very Good. Description and history of the taro root, with instructions on how to grow it. Addresses U.S. farmers.

Savannah, GA: Southern Land Congress, 1918. Pamphlet. 12p., wraps. 7.25 x 5 in. Diagonal crease along front cover; otherwise Very Good. Program for an event that presented World War I veterans with a plan to make them owners of land and farm in the southern United States. The Congress was held under the auspices of the Southern Settlement and Development Organization; Southern Pine Association; Georgia Land Owners' Association; Florida Tick Eradication Committee; North Carolina Land Owners' Association, and Savannah Board of Trade, in co-operation with the US Department of the Interior.

New York: Project in Applied Economics, 1949. Pamphlet. 94, [2]p., wraps. 9 x 6 in. Agricultural fiction for juveniles, with several facts about soil conservation and farming techniques. The story was the first place entry in a contest sponsored by the publisher and was written by a teacher and farmer from Mississippi. The Project in Applied Economics originated at the College of Education at the University of Florida, with funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Laz Paz, Keene, CA, 1992. Pamphlet. [3]p., 8.5x11 inch essay, corner stapled; reads like a biographical media piece on Chavez, but publisher is unclear, in very good condition.

Ames, IA: Iowa State University Press, 1964. Hardcover. xii, 301p., previous owner's stamp on half-title, else very good condition in an unclipped and shelfworn dust jacket. NFO stands for National Farmers Organization, an Iowa-based group that advocated for better prices for crops.

Boston: Beacon Press, 1965. Hardcover. [x], 158p., ex library with extensive markings, free front endpaper water-damaged, else good condition in an unclipped and worn dust jacket with a library sticker on the spine.

Santa Rosa: The Society, 1913. Magazine. Fragmentary or trial-balloon version of v.1 n.1 with a number of blanks that will be illustrated as this first issue takes shape. Not only a rare exemplar of the magazine, it was superseded! - Terminal leaf announces that "The Titles of the Remaining Chapters of Volume I Are..&c". The initial five pages are unpaginated and introductory; these followed by pp.107-175 (texts alternating with aforementioned blanks) and the inclusion of an excellent color-photo of a pitcher plant, fullpage and tipped-on, shown to illustrate a textual point (no, Burbank did not engineer the pitcher plant). Item apparently is the first state of the first launch of the newsletter/journal. - Condition: front cover has suffered a deep vertical crease, some lesser creasings, short marginal tears, and mild dust-soil.
