Very Good/No Jacket. ca 1937-1938. 16 pp, light brown SC wraps w/pictorial front of a cake & plate of bread slices, w/lady holding a can of baking powder, back panel has illustration of can of baking powder. The booklet contains an endorsement letter, brief history on the origin of baking, endorsement of Clabber Girl, balanced double action of Clabber Girl and important points for perfect baking results, and recipes.

No dust jacket. 138 pp. Text complete, bright, and clean with highlighting and pencil notes to some recipes. Some notes in English and presumed Japanese. Front free endpaper dated February 6, 1956. Front cover and front spine repaired with cellophane tape. Small tear and crease from outer edge on rear free endpaper repaired with tape. Michele was an Army wife who collected recipes from throughout the world and compiled this book while stationed in the Far East. Few of these paperbacks have survived.

No dust jacket. 96 pp. Text has ivory colored pages, some recipes have penciled adjustments, evidence book has been used with minimal food stains, no prior owner attribution, illustrated with full color and B/W photographs and drawings throughout. Book features many recipes for Carnation Evaporated Milk. Overall, a very good first edition of this mid-century cookbook.

Book has wear from usage with a light grease or water spot on page 398 and spots on pages 552-553. Minor sunning to outer edges of text. Illustrated throughout with b/w photos and several full-page monotone prints in red and blue hues. Decorated pastedown and free endpapers. Overall, good comprehensive book of menus and recipes from the mid 20th century.

Insides of book in good condition, but binding is poor. Boards have scuffs and scratches and moderate edgewear. Front cover is detached. Gift inscription in ink on front pastedown, dated 1930. Few copies of this book are known to exist, despite its external condition.

Cover is faded with age and shows shelfwear at head and tail of spine. Rare to find first editions of both books in one volume.

A "textbook covering a variety of subjects including bacteriology, chemistry and physics, of which some knowledge is indispensable in modern methods of manufacture." This early primer on the science of ice cream making is rare in part because: "This book will not be broadcast to the trade as the cost is too great, but a copy will be mailed free to any of our customers applying for one. A charge of $1.00 will be made if a second copy is wanted. To all those who are not on our books as customers, the price is $2.00."
