Upper margins slightly sunned, otherwise fine in very good, spine faded dust jacket The author was an eight term congressman from Arkansas This copy was presented to Cartha "Deke" DeLoach who was then deputy associate director of the FBI, third in command behind J Edgar Hoover & Clyde Tolson. "Hilarious stories of American politics and politicians from the grassroots to Capitol Hill by the senior raconteur of the Kennedy-Johnson era."

Publisher's grey paper over boards backed in gilt-lettered black cloth-patterned paper, in pictorial dust jacket "Al Hirschfeld Foundation" rubber-stamped on the half-title page, otherwise fine in very good dust jacket; lightly soiled, with slight edge wear As noted by Burns, "at my age, sex gets second billing," replaced, apparently, by pleasing meals such as 4 prunes with skim milk & 2 cups of black coffee. Burns, however, did indeed live to be 100.

Publisher's coarse tan linen lettered in black on the upper cover, in pictorial dust jacket. Text in French. Brief wear at spine extremities & corners, previous owner's bookplate at ffep, otherwise Very Good in lightly soiled Very Good dust jacket with modest edge wear including a couple of short tears. Chronicles the life of Toulouse-Lautrec from childhood with family, with friends, in the studio, etc, until his untimely passing just short of his 37th birthday.

Grace Edwards-Yearwood, 1933 - 2020, (nee Grace Frederica Smith) was director of the Harlem Writers Guild from 2007 to 2016. In the Shadow of the Peacock is her first book followed by six detective novels all set in Harlem.

A fine copy in near fine dust jacket with a short closed tear at the base of the spine.Ms. Tenneson's photographs are "Haunting, ethereal, pensive, disturbing," as characterized on the dust jacket flap, to which we might add "usually nude," and "manipulated image."

Kristin Hunter (1931 - 2008), an African American author, comments on her writing:

Ex-library with the small rubber-stamped mark of the Royal Archaeological Institute in the margins of several pages, brief edge wear, moderately soiled, spine & margins browned, occasional minor foxing, bookplate of V.S.M. de Guinzbourg at the ffep with attendant glue stain on the verso, a good or better copy.
Post-Archaelogical Institute, this title ended up in the collection of Lt. Colonel Victor de Guinzbourg who served in the Counter-Intelligence Corps during World War II as a liaison officer with the French Foreign Legion & as political adviser to General Alexander M. Features haunting illustrations by fashion model turned photographer Sarah Moon (born Marielle Warin) who posed her daughter as subject for these images.

First edition, number 190 of 450 copies (of 1100 in total), this a "Release Party Copy" rubber-stamped on the copyright page, Inscribed & Signed by Milo Johnstone in red marker on the title page & in ink by John Mochring 8 times (at each of his posters). 4to, 248 pages, printed on various colors & weights of paper & profusely illustrated throughout, in original pictorial card covers.
Edges & joints moderately rubbed, otherwise Very Good or better. Milo Johnstone spent years researching & compiling this unique history of Seattle's 1960's subculture. The result befits the spirit of the time: a gathering of politics, party, The Helix, The Daily Flash, Tom Robbins, Timothy Leary, music, The Grateful Dead & more. Quite uncommon, OCLC locates 4 copies only as of 10/9/2019.

Quarto (11.5" x 8.5"), 107 pages. Publisher's gilt-lettered black leatherette in pictorial dust jacket.
Trace of foxing mostly at the top edge of the text block & at the verso of the jacket, otherwise near fine.Insriibed & dated in the year of publiction, reading in part "For Elizabeth and for/ Grant (who named this the/ Messenger)." Chronicles the process from commission through unveiling of a major sculpture. Sir David Wynne sculpted busts of the Beatles in 1964 and introduced them to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Mr. Wynne passed away in 2014.

Baltimore, Maryland: William & Wilkins Company, (1973) First edition, this copy inscribed, signed & dated in ink by Blount at the ffep. 8vo, xiv, 198 pp, illustrated. Publisher's pictorial cloth. Laid in is a program for a post-graduate course on the Milwaukee Brace held in Atlanta, GA in 1973 which includes an attendee's manuscript notes. Lightly soiled, sporadic smudging in the upper margins, otherwise Very GoodWalter Blount and Albert Schmidt developed the Milwaukee Brace in 1946 Additionally, Blount was one of the first surgeons to recognize fractures in children as a possible symptom of abuse.

First edition, this a presentation copy inscribed, signed & dated in ink by Liebling at the ffep to Alger & Priscilla Hiss. 8vo (8.25" x 5.75"), 251 pages. Publisher's cloth-patterned yellow paper over boards lettered in brown on the spine, lacking the dust jacket.
Spine darkened, soiled, upper joint splitting, shallow loss at spne extremities, corners bruised & rubbed through, a worn but historically significant copy.

The second collection of Liebling's articles critical of New York newspapers which were originally published in the NEW YORKER, this copy presented to Hiss & wife exactly one week after his first trial ended in a hung jury. During the course of the trial Liebling formed a warm friendship with the defendant, & thereafter aggressively criticized the House Un-American Activities Committee.

The author was the commanding officer of the Proust program which sent French military personnel recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (predecessor to the C.I.A.) to France to produce intelligence for the Allied invasion at Normandy. This copy is inscribed "with thanks" to Carroll Godwin who was news director, anchorman and talk show host at WCSC- Channel 5 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Small 4to, unpaginated, accordian bound, "letter-press printed by John Robinson at the Toroise Press on Arches 88 paper ... Handbound by Allwyn O'Mara ... Silver foil stamping by Custom Bindery, Los Angeles, End-papers handmade by the artist and editor." (excerpted from the colophon) With TLS laid in on letterhead from Kanner to Don Bruckner, then editor of the New York Times Book Review, apparently enclosed with this copy in seeking review. Lacking the plastic slipcase, binding slightly soiled,one corner bruised, otherwise fine. The first publication from this small fine press which was awarded the Rounce & Coffin Award for excellence in book design in 1997. Per OCLC, an "Illustrated companion to Moby Dick containing 12 engraved portraits of Pequod's crew with accompanying text by Melville, Shakespeare and Milton."

A wonderful survey of the impressionist art of Piet Bekaert, accompanied by his poignant poetry. The artist passed away in 2000.
