Morgan Dennis, 1930s.. An etching on a single sheet, signed at the bottom by Morgan Dennis. Image measures about 3.5 x 5 inches, on a sheet measuring 5.25 x 7.5 inches.Tiny pin holes in upper cornes, very nice condition. An uncommon etching of a Chow Chow puppy, it is mentioned by Morgan Dennis in his 1954 book: PURE BREDS, in the section on Chow Chows: "I did an etching of a puppy once and gave it the title "Impudence"."

The image measures about 4 x 5.5 inches, on a sheet measuring about 6 x 7.5 inches. Small corner torn from lower corner of sheet, pin-holes in corners, a nice clean copy. One of a recently-acquired collection of adorable dog etchings by Morgan Dennis; a nice impression.

Tiny pin holes in corners, a little smudge in the right margin (not near the image), a very clean and attractive copy. A charming image of two Cocker Spaniels, and a nice dark impression.

This is copy #54 of 200 numbered copies. Image measures about 5 x 7 inches, on a sheet measuring 8.75 x 11 inches. Light wear to the lower edge, a clean fine copy. An uncommon signed & limited issue of this Morgan Dennis bulldog etching.

Chinese, c.1900.. This is a scene of two horsemen brandishing weapons. Floral designs at the top. A textile panel, the image size 9 x 14 inches, in a frame with glass which measures 17 x 21 inches. Some metallic thread within the design.

Amsterdam: P. Mortier, [c.1724]. . An engraving on laid paper, image size 21cm x 26cm, mounted on a large folio sheet measuring 33cm x 53cm. Light edge wear, a little darkening at upper right, a nice clean copy. Titled in French & Latin. Number "18" printed at lower right. Issued with the imprint of Pierre [Pieter] Mortier, Amsterdam; this was published in the third volume of the four-volume 1724 edition of Joseph Smith's "Britannia Illustrata, or Nouveau Theatre de la Grande Bretagne". This is a popular romantic image, representing the Ragini Madhumadhavi (the wife of Raga Megha), feeding a peacock in a leafy tree with honey from a cup. Finely executed. Paris?, 1911.. An etched menu on paper, matted and framed. Paper size is 6.75 x 14.25 inches, in a frame measuring 13 x 16.5 inches. Fine condition, light edge wear to frame. A pictorial menu in French. Signed in the plate, "1911. Edouard Leon". Curious and scarce.

c.1890.. A colour chromolithograph of Torrini's humorous painting, of monks reading an issue of "Punch" magazine. Torrini was known for his witty, informal genre paintings. The image is about 22 x 18 inches, in a narrow wooden frame measuring 24.5 x 20.75 inches. A few small chips, very good condition, small chips from frame edges. The original painting has appeared at auction several times, with a different title each time; thus the three titles above. [This is an oversize item, and normal postage rates do not apply. NY: Liebler & Maass Lith. Co., c.1910. A large color lithograph of two young boys. One boy consoles the other, who carries an armload of unsold newspapers. The image was used by the New York Tribune on an advertising poster with the caption: "Never Mind Chimmie, Termorrer Yer Sells DE TRIBUNE And Yer Don't Get Stuck, See!". Matted & framed, with glass. This poster image measures about 20 x 28 inches, in a frame measuring 23.5 x 31 inches. The printer's imprint is at the lower right. The artist is unknown, the signature (possibly "Del") is at the lower left. This image is copied from the popular painting by Marie (Mizzi) Wunsch (1862-1898), who was a Viennese genre painter. The image and its caption were used to advertize a number of different newspapers in the late 19th century. Information on this print is from the Museum of the City of New York. A scarce poster. 24 x 20 inches. Fair to good condition, several scratches. Needs cleaning. Sold to us as 'signed', but the signature is not evident. This came from the Blind estate, part of which was dispersed in Victoria in 2020 - 2021. Securely mounted on an older stretcher, which looks to be late 19th century. An attractive image. ca.1910.. An original watercolour of a musical nature; a Victorian or Edwardian scene in a music room, an older man tunes his viola, watched by a young woman seated at a keyboard. About 19 x 14 inches, framed, the frame measuring 21 x 15.5 inches. Highly finished, attractively framed. Signed at the lower left: "H.M. Brock". Nowhere captioned on the picture, the above title came to us from the previous owners, in whose Victoria B.C. home it hung for many decades. c. 1970s.. Pastel on board or paper, signed at lower left. A highly finished, beautiful example, in fine condition. Artist's label on rear, partly illegible, giving her address in Victoria BC, where she moved in 1973. Image size is 11 x 14 inches, in an ornate frame measuring 17 x 21 inches. 1911. . An original watercolour of an English country scene; an older man leads a horse, while a young woman follows, holding her dress clear of the ground. About 19 x 14 inches, framed, the frame measuring 21 x 15.5 inches. Highly finished, attractively framed. Signed at the lower right: "H.M. Brock 1911". Oil on board. Image size is 6 x 6 inches, in an antique gilt frame measuring 10 x 10 inches. Small plaque on the front reads: "The Old Shepherd / F.M. Bell-Smith". The image is of an old, white-haired shepherd wearing a cap, holding a stick. Very good condition. A small label on the rear is from Roberts & Son, Artistic Framing, Toronto. Bell-Smith emigrated to Canada from England in 1867. He was a well-known painter, living in Montreal, Hamilton, Toronto, and London, Ontario. He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1886. He was the first Canadian to be granted a personal sitting by Queen Victoria. This painting is undated, but is likely ca.1900. c.1823.. A coloured lithograph on paper, matted and framed. The image measures about 14 x 8 inches, in a frame with glass measuring 16 x 10 inches. Very good condition. At the lower right is an "HC" monogram and the date 1823. An early view of Charing Cross By Harriet Capel, later Harriet Ford.

A circular portrait, 2.25 inches in diameter, on a 10 x 7 inch sheet. This is a 19th century photogravure of this portrait. Fine condition. Saint-Memin was a celebrated portraitist who lived in the USA from 1793 - 1814. His subjects included George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. The subject of this portrait, Joseph Bloomfield, was the Governor of New Jersey, and the man for whom Bloomfield, NJ is named. It is printed on a wove paper, quite fine, with no watermark. The imprint: "St. Memin No. 27 Pine St. N. York" is that usually found on Saint-Memin's productions from 1796-98. The New York Historical Society Museum & Library finding aid to the Saint-Memin Print Collection mentions the Bloomfield portrait, giving a date of 1798.
