London: Ward Lock and Tyler A collection of boys adventure stories, poetry and factual articles on games and pastimes. Stories include Finger of Fate by Capt. Mayne Reid and one of the beggars by John Tillotson. 656 pages with a colour frontispiece and many other full page illustrations from engravings and woodcuts. Pages are bright and clean, neat former owners name in ink on front endpaper, dated 1870, this is the only date in book.Endpapers are split at inner hinges but binding is sound looks as if it may have been neatly gliued at front. Outer boards are rubbed and worn on edges, some small marks and spine faded, all edges of pages are goldwhich is a little marked. Though not perfect a pleasing copy of an interesting book SEE IMAGE. Originally printed in 1646 a sermon preached at the solemnization of the funeral of the right honourable Robert Earle of Essex in the Abbey Church at Westminster, this is a reprint of that sermon privately printed in 1886 in a run of 275.Contains 50 pp, book in very good condition just a slightly yellow imprint of Glassine jacket around edges of endpapers, original Glassine wrapper has all wording complete on front but some loss around edges and spine has gone, a little grubby but still a pleasing copy.
