Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1958. Vintage banner poster from the 1958 film. Based on the 1957 nonfiction book, "The Naked Warriors" by Commander Francis Douglas Fane, about the evolution of the US Navy's Underwater Demolition Unit, beginning with its inception near the end of World War II through it's utilization in the Korean War. 82 x 24 inches. Very Good, with light soiling overall, foxing to the left margin, a 1.5 inch closed tear to the bottom center margin, several pinholes throughout, and a 1.5 inch closed tear to the center with corresponding rubbing and creasing (between the a and r of "Warrior"). Otherwise bright and unfaded.

New York: Boo-Hooray / Carl Johan De Geer, 2014. Original color lithographic print created for the Carl Johan De Geer exhibition at Printed Matter's 2014 Los Angeles Art Book Fair, showing Lee Falk's comic strip character The Phantom spanking various women in a collage format. SIGNED, titled, and numbered by De Geer along the bottom margin, noted in manuscript ink as No. 5 from an edition of 20 copies. Born in Montreal and raised in a castle in southern Sweden, Carl Johan De Geer is a Swedish baron, artist, musician, and writer known for his leftist, frequently provocative works. Lee Falk created The Phantom in 1936 as a daily newspaper strip and is still published today as a Sunday strip. The Phantom's character design was influential on the modern stylized image of the superhero in tight fitting body suits and masks, a few years later adopted by Bob Kane for "Batman" and Joe Shuster for "Superman." 24.75 x 29.75 inches. New York: Theatre De Lys, 1971. Vintage oversize poster for the 1971 off-Broadway play, which played at the Theatre de Lys in New York on June 17, 1971 and played for 247 performances before closing on June 6, 1972. Winner of the Drama Desk Award for Best Play of the 1971-72 season. Originally broadcast on PBS for an episode of the WGBH Boston televison series "On Being Black" during the 1968-1969 season, before being produced by the New Federal Theatre at St. Augustine's Church, directed by noted playwright and stage director Shauneille Perry. After playing to full houses and rave reviews the play then moved to the Theatre de Lys on June 17, 1971. The first major stage production of a play by Franklin. Following the production at the Theatre de Lys the play then toured Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, and Detroit. Georgina Spelvin stars as Dr. Tessy Tighttwat, director of the Tighttwat Institute for Sexual Research, who treats Eric Edwards as Harry Flattout, impotent and unemployed after getting carried away and raping his boss' secretary during Spurt Over Oil's daily sex hour. Bern, Switzerland: Kunsthalle Bern, 1983. Vintage poster for the Dan Graham retrospective exhibition "Pavilions," and musical performances by Glenn Branca and Graham, at the Kunsthalle in Bern, Switzerland, March 12 through April 17, 1983, with musical performances on March 11, 16, and 17, 1983, designed by Albin Uldry. Artist, writer, and curator, Graham was a wide-ranging post-conceptual artist whose work was heavily influenced by the work of minimal and conceptual artists, and worked in performance art, installations, sculpture, and photography. Graham's "Pavillions," some of the artist's most popular works, were made beginning in the late 1970s until the artist's death in 2022. N.p.: Fred Baker Films, 1972. Vintage one sheet poster for the little-seen 1972 documentary. At 25 x 38 inches, a bit smaller than the standard one sheet poster size of 27 x 41 inches.. The second documentary to be produced on Bruce after his death in 1966, though the first, "Lenny Bruce in 'Lenny Bruce' (1967), was basically a film of a single performance. Baker's film combines footage of Bruce from "The Steve Allen Show," audio-only clips, an interview by Nat Hentoff with a broken-down Bruce near the end of his life, and the infamous video footage of Bruce dead in his bathroom of an overdose. A brutal and non-judgmental examination of the man who changed not only the nature of comedy, but the nature of performance itself. Considered by many to the the most sophisticated and sublime of all their releases, Depeche Mode's seventh studio album, "Violator," propelled the English electronic New Wave band to international stardom. Preceded by the release of two smash hit singles, "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence," the triple platinum "Violator" achieved the band's greatest critical and commercial success, and lists 167 on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. 40 x 60 inches, folded as issued. Champigny-sur-Marne: ECM, 1978. Vintage jumbo French record store poster for the release of Jack DeJohnette's 1978 album. Jazz drummer, pianist, and composer Jack DeJohnette released his 15th studio release, "New Directions," as a quartet in 1978, with John Abercrombie on guitar, Lester Bowie on trumpet, and Eddie Gómez on bass. 47 x 30.5 inches, Folded as issued. Tokyo: Wakamatsu Production, 1982. Original Japanese B2 poster from the 1982 Japanese film. Text in Japanese. A married railway ticket puncher starts sedating women with chloroform in order to invade their houses. His cruelty escalates, and he grows bolder in his desires. A late release by controversial pink film director and producer Kôji Wakamatsu. 20.5 x 28.75 inches, Folded as issued. Very Good, with light edgewear and creasing along the folds.

Paris: Nuit Blanches Productions, 1987. Vintage grande poster for David Bowie's The Glass Spider tour, for a performance at La Courneuve, Paris, July 3, 1987. Launched in support of Bowie's 1987 "Never Let Me Down" album, The Glass Spider tour began in May 1987, and was preceded by a two-week press tour in nine countries throughout Europe and North America. Bowie's largest and most expensive tour, with the largest and most elaborate touring set at the time (designed to look like a giant spider), was the first tour in which Bowie would visit Austria, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Wales. It was also the first tour in which wireless microphone technology was available, allowing Bowie considerable freedom to move about the stage and interact with dancers and musicians, including occasionally climbing onto the 3-story spider scaffolding with his dancers. 46.5 x 62.5 inches, folded as issued. N.p.: N.p., 2000. Vintage "An acoustic evening with Medeski Martin and Wood" poster for Medeski Martin and Wood's 2000 acoustic tour, in promotion of their live acoustic album, "Tonic." Formed in 1991 by keyboardist John Medeski, drummer Billy Martin, and bassist Chris Wood, Medeski Martin and Wood developed their own unique brand of improvisational jazz fusion, incorporating influences as varied as hip hop, funk, and jam band, in a style sometimes described as "avant-groove." "Tonic" was the band's eighth release and first live album, released April 25, 2000, and was recorded in an entirely acoustic format reminiscent of the band's 1992 debut "Notes from the Underground." 20 x 30 inches, with a center horizontal crease, likely as issued. Rome: Produzioni Europee Associate [PEA], 1967. Vintage Italian locandino poster from the 1967 film. Text in Italian. An Italian and Spanish production, the film is widely acknowledged as a classic of the spaghetti western genre and was a favorite of director and screenwriter Sergio Sollima. The second film of Sollima's political western trilogy, sequel to the 1967 film "The Big Gundown," starring Lee Van Cleef and Tomas Milian, and followed by his 1968 film "Run, Man, Run," starring Tomas Milian and Donal O'Brien. A history professor, Brad Fletcher (Gian Maria Volonté), forced into retirement due to poor health, moves out west for the climate, and is soon taken hostage by famed bandit Solomon Bennet (Tomas Milian), where he is gradually seduced from his initial disdain for the outlaws to joining the group, eventually becoming their calculating and ruthless leader. N.p.: Pot Heads Experimental Films, 1967. Vintage fluorescent one-sheet poster for a double bill of the 1967 film with the 1967 documentary short "Wild Hippie Orgy." Both semi-documentary sexploitation films were released by Pot Heads Experimental Films, with the directors and screenwriters uncredited, in an attempt at both appealing to the counterculture and exploiting it to attract the adult film audience. As the poster states, "Up-Tight Squares Join the Hippies and their Hip Chicks they've scored for Acid, Pot & Grass! This is Where Its At... It's a Sex Freak Out!" A hippie playing a pan flute picks up two hippie girls in Golden Gate Park and goes back to his place to take drugs, have sex, and do other strange things hippies do. 28 x 42 inches, folded as issued. Los Angeles: RKO Radio Pictures, 1950. Vintage mini-banner poster for the 1950 Western film. Two cowboys join a wagon train and find themselves forced to defend the group against outlaws, attacking tribes, and foul weather. Basis for the 1957-1965 television series, "Wagon Train," with actor Ward Bond returning to star as the wagon master until his death in 1960. A film which received tepid critical response upon release in 1950, but which was considered by director John Ford to be one of his favorites, and has since been reconsidered as one of Ford's masterpieces. On the lamb, Martin holes up in an abandoned house and is befriended by a little girl, Elsie, and her dog Skipper, who Martin names Johnny One-Eye. 4.75 x 28 inches.
