A printed bookplate, 3X4 inches, illustration printed in red and text in black. The illustration, with 'Margaret Atwood' printed beneath, is of a peacock with a human female torso, topless. Lettering is, above: EX LIBRIS and below: Ars Longa, Vita Brevis. Condition is fine. We have several copies available. The Latin epigram, translated by Seneca from a phrase by Hippocrates, means: Life is Short, Art is Forever. The Art referred to by Hippocrates was that of medicine. The quote is often misattributed to Horace. It is used in Atwood's novel ORYX AND CRAKE, with which this bookplate is surely somehow associated; perhaps a promotional item?

Berkeley: Serendipity Books, 1973. First edition. A poetry broadside, measuring 7.5 X 13 inches. Printed in two colors, Snyder's name is blind-stamped into the paper beneath the poems. Printed at the Arif Press, distributed free by Serendipity Books at the International Antiquarian Book Fair in San Francisco, 1973. A fine copy.

[Vancouver]: Pulp Press for the March 28th Committee, 2 December, 1978. First edition. . Broadside, a single sheet measuring 8 X 10 inches. Fine condition. Issued as March 28th Committee Publication No. 1. The March 28th Committee was named for the day federal legislation formally constituted the Canada Council.

Vancouver: CBC, 1961. Self-wrappers, 16 pages, stapled. Some rusting of staples, otherwise about fine. Reviews of current shows.

Paris: Bon Marche, c.1910.. 8pp., self-wrappers, stapled. Light wear to spine, staple corroded, tips bumped, a nice copy anyway. Four colour plates by Ange Supparo. This is a small promotional booklet for the Bon Marche department store in Paris. An illustrated ad for the store appears on the back cover.

Vancouver: City Archives, 1953. A small broadside poem - a single leaf on glossy paper, measuring 5 X 7.5 inches. Fine condition. A poem written in 1942. Bland was born in Ottawa in 1875.

London: Sceptre Press, (1977). First edition. . Gray wrappers lettered in black, stapled. A fine copy. Of an edition of 150 numbered copies, this is one of 100 unsigned.

[Detroit Photographic Company / Detroit Publishing Company, c.1900]. . This is a Polychrom print of Loch Lomond in Scotland, published by the Detroit Publishing Co. c.1900. It is numbered 13067. Size is about 22cm x 17cm. The number and title are printed on the front at the lower left. Verso is blank. Two scuffed areas at lower left, affecting the title, otherwise in fine condition. This publisher acquired the exclusive ownership and rights to the Photochrom process in America; Photochrom (Fotochrom, Photochrome or the Aäc process) is a process for producing colorized images from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of a negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is a photographic variant of chromolithography.

Fredericton: Fiddlehead, 1971. Extended and revised edition. . Original wrappers. A nice clean copy. Limited to 2000 copies. Inscribed and signed by Livesay on the inner front cover.

NY: Firebrand, (1988). First edition. . Black boards, spine lettered in gilt, paper covers pasted on. Tan end papers. A fine copy. This is the hardcover issue of this collection of 14 stories.

Chicago: Donnelley, 1886. Eighth Edition.. Brown cloth designed and lettered in black. Floral end papers. Paper browned, very light shelf wear, but an attractive copy. The first American edition appeared from Sumner in 1880; the British edition was published by Vizetelly in 1886.

Victoria: University of Victoria Creative Writing Dept., 1974. A single sheet / broadside measuring 8.5 x 14 inches on white stock. Fine condition. Limited to 100 copies. Sometimes found folded vertically to make a booklet; this copy unfolded.

Prince George: Caledonia Writing Series, (1975). First edition. A 4-page booklet. A yellow sheet of card stock once folded, printed white paper label on front cover. The glue has dried out, and the paper label is loose, as usual. The colophon, on the back cover, indicates that 300 copies were printed. All copies have the handwritten legend: 300 copies/75 - apparently 75 indicates the year of publication, not the copy number.

Boston & NY: Houghton, Mifflin, 1891. First edition.. Original two-tone cloth, grey & blue, front cover lettered in slate on grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Frontispiece and numerous illustrations within the text. Light shelf wear, some small blemishes to cloth, a very good copy with a bright spine.

The memoirs of Gladys May Siviter (1906-1991) who was born in Blackheath. Memoirs of Yew Tree Lane and Powke Lane School, and life at a house on Southwick Road.

Tokyo, Japan, 1916.. 64pp. Brown wrappers lettered in gold. Shelf wear to spine ends, name penned on inner covers; very good otherwise. Historical overview of this Prussian noble house. MacCauley fought in the Civil War, and later became a Unitarian minister.

Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1940. First edition, Ukrainian version.. [32]pp. Orange & black printed wrappers, stapled. Some wear to edges, some soiling in margins, staples a bit rusty; generally very good otherwise. Issued as OXFORD PAMPHLETS ON WORLD AFFAIRS No. C.3. This text of this copy is entirely in Ukrainian, save for the Series info and price on the covers, and the imprint on the title page. Uncommon in this form.
