The book is in a mix of good and poor condition. It's clean and complete and has the merit of offering a wide and well-balanced range of Marx's writings and selections from them.It beings with the early writings from 1837 onward until the letters of 1881. Unfortunately, though, it's bound as a collection of signatures glued together and the glue has failed in a few places. This has left a couple of sections with three oir four loose leaves and one or two others where such will surely follow. There are also a few paragraphs with underlining - all in pencil as far as I can see and there possibly illumination but in any case capable of being rubbed out if necessary. It's for this reason that the price has been put at the bargain price noted as I'd rather someone buy it than throw it in the bin.

Spur Publications, Hindhead, 1978 first edition; large 8vo, ppviii, 269; price snipped slightly too enthusiastically from the dust wrapper, small tear at the dw head and an erasure mark on the front end paper but nevertheless a good copy; pictorial end papers and profusely illustrated in the text with both monochrome and colour images of a very wide range of horses and of activities connected with them. The book is a thorough examination and history of the four breeds comprising the totality of modern heavy horses - Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk and Percheron, horses which can weigh a ton, have a girth of over 8 feet and a height of perhaps six feet at the withers. NOTE that overseas orders but not UK ones will attract a postage supplement on account of the base weight of approaching 1,150g.

First published in the US in 1941 or thereabouts.

Begun by France in 1881 the construction was then taken over by the US with the canal finally opening in August 1914.

London: Little Brown, 1996. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Large 8vo, xxvii, 547; includes ten maps and ten diagrams or tables; very good copy in dust wrapper. The author is a journalist and lecturer who at the point of publication had specialised in Chinese affairs for over 40 years, including having lived and worked in China, and was well respected as a writer and commentator on the region. Even now China is not well known to the outside world and Wilson's book sets the superpower growth of China into useful economic and social context and considers what is happening in the country and in its relations with other countries.

Geoffrey Bles, London, 1935, first English edition; 8vo, pp 278; frontispiece of Dreyfus (reproduced also on the dust wrapper) and seven other plates including a large folding plate comparing samples of Drefus's handwriting with Esterhazy's and a reproduction of the "bordereau", the document purportedly written by Dreyfus and used to convict him; book itself in good condition, the dust wrapper complete and with only a tiny tear at the foot but browned at the top and on the spine. Charpentier, like Zola, Picquart and many others, was prominent in defending Dreyfus and his account - considered excellent and revealing - is thereby necessarily sympathetic and partisan towards its unjustly convicted subject.

Midas Books, Southborough, Kent and Hippocrene Books, New York, 1983, first edition; 8vo, pp 165; numerous plates including a bizarre photograph of Roger Moore as Ivanhoe; blue cloth gilt in a pictorial dust wrapper; smallish patch of brown paper stuck to the front pastedown, lacks front free end paper, neat library stamp on the verso of the title page but despite all that still a good, tight, clean copy of this entertaining history of children's broadcasting from the early days of wireless and television on.

The play was first staged in 1634 and performed nearly every decade since. Inevitably the text has changed and this version gives the official text for the 1930 season, following the enlargement of the theatre to accommodate the increasing audiences; a note in the text indicates that the play ran from 08.00 to 18.00 with a pause at midday of two hours. ... ... ... Note that the text in this copy differs from the text given in the Stead version - listed here as item 001067 - as explained in the detail for that other copy.

As with Tibet to its south, Xinjiang is considered by China an autonomous province of the country but by its population - here mainly the Uighurs - an independent entity linked to China only through historic theft by alien invaders, this leading both to violent uprisings and, such is the hysteria of China in such matters, to savage reprisals against the population.

Foreword by the psychologist and sociologist Theodor Reik who points out that of all the sexual aberrations chastity is surely the strangest. Ginzburg explains in his introduction that the book is not an anthology but, rather, is one which presents samples of erotic writing woven together with comment on context, history and explanation as appropriate in order to give readers a larger and more meaningful view of the field.
