I am selling these two together as I think they are complimentary and that is why I have them both. The larger book shows a little more curling at the corners than the smaller. A nice copy, jacket has some separation of plastic from the paper at the spine. This book represents a real labor of love by the Author/Illustrator. He has covered just about every motorcycle ever made by Veloce Ltd. If you are a "Velo Fello" and don't have this one, you might want to add it to your collection. When first published, in 1940 (this copy is a Bonanza reprint) I am sure this was the definitive history of the Colt Revolver. It still has a place on your shelf if you are interested in Colt history! From the rear flap of the dust jacket: "The book is in four parts. Price Reduced!!This book is like new, slight curling at the corners, spine is flat, does not really ever appear to have been used. I bought it years ago to attempt a restoration of a great 1904 Packard upright I had but I never even got started; for someone with the time and talent to use it I think this may well be the "bible" of piano repair. When I was collecting these pistols I considered this a "must have" title, this copy comes from my personal gun book library. This is a 5 Volume set, actually I don't think a 6th volume was ever complied. The books were published at 3 to 4 year intervals, each standing alone as a work in itself; but it is nice to have all 5 in one place. These books have all been read and used. Volume 4 has a partially torn cover where it joins the spine, and former owner's name stamped inside front cover and someone else's name and phone on back page. I don't find any marks in any of the other volumes. A good sort of general interest set of books for a gun collecting enthusiast, especially if one is interested in learning about weapons you don't see very often here in the US.. I am a former Velo owner, this book comes from my personal collection of English Motorcycle books. Very Good copy, some bumping to corners, some curling to dust jacket edges. Not price clipped, not ex library. From the Dust Jacket, "... the history of Veolce Ltd, manufacturers of the Velocette motor cycle." The works of William Smith as editor demand a certain amount of concentration as the material presented is very thorough; in addition these works were written at a time when the level of education far surpassed what is general today as evidenced by the many writers' inclusion of Greek and Latin quotations with citations but no translations. In other words, the reader was expected to be familiar with languages, particularly with Latin and Greek.
The condition of the actual books themselves is poor. The text blocks, for the most part, are useable though the boards are very fragile in terms of remaining with the book. In particular the spine of Volume 2 is detached at the front edge. Are these books restorable? I don't really know about that, it is the information in them which seems the most important.

The First Edition published by Fadco, and is signed by the author and numbered #653 of 2000;, Revised published by Borden. First Edition so marked, jacket in Brodart. Second Edition has jacket reproduction of photo on First Edition jacket, though jacket has some small tears at the usual spots. Both have been read and remain in good shape. Fred Datig was one of the very first, if not the first Luger expert in the US to publish the results of his research. Numerous pictures and drawings accompany his telling of the Luger story. These come from my personal collection and as a collector I enjoy having both editions and hope you do as well. Dimensions and weight both approximate, and for one book. Here I have both the original "How to load, operate, disassemble, assemble American-Germam-Italian-Japanese-Russian and Other Military Small Arms" in big bold letters on the front cover, and, an excellent copy of that book, reprinted. The reprint is not scarce particularly, but the original is. This is the grandaddy of the Guns of the World series edited by W.H.B. Smith and later by others. Weight and dimensions are approximate. This is a collectable book. It is Volume 4 of "The Library of Liturgiology & Ecclesiology for English Readers" which Library was edited by Vernon Staley, a cleric whose name has been valued lately with many of his works, both as an author and as an editor have been reprinted in modern format. This is not one of those. I have endeavored with my many photos to show accurately the condition of this particular volume. I have not seen another copy of this particular work offered for sale at the moment, at least not an original.
The first few photos show the boards and some moisture damage sustained by the front board and front endpapers. Both hinges, front and back, are solid. There are no loose pages. The Title Pages do not have stains. The actual contents of this volume can be read in the Preface, which I have photographed and presented. Also the Table of Contents will give more of an idea. One illustration is of ecclesiastical garb. There is an index at the end.

This book is from my personal library, I bought it while I was collecting these pistols some years ago. I think the Landscape format is much better than the later printing Portrait format as photos are larger.
