CONDITION NOTE CONTINUED: No slipcase with this copy, some light rubbing at top and bottom of the red leather spine. Light wear to the top and bottom corners of the boards. Internally a very good+ to fine copy. Images Available. 64pp of text.

New York: Frederick A. Stokes Company, 1903. HC. good+, pictorial boards (hardcover). color illustrations. With Facsimiles of Drawings in Colour by Jessie Willcox Smith and Elizabeth Shippen Green --- And with Stories and Verses Written for the Pictures by Mabel Humphrey." Internally a very good copy, externally the boards exhibit edgewear and and some waterstaining that never got inside. Inscribed on the FFEP "Merry Christmas to Barbara from Aunt Jessie 1903." This signature is not quite what you see from Jessie Willcox Smith, unless it changed over time which happens, and I have not found that she has a niece, Barbara. Of course, Barbara could have been a favorite child Jessie, who never married, may have known. Two very small tears at the bottom of two pages, not affecting anything. Headspieces by both Green and Smith. All seven full page illustrations present and sharp - four by Green (including the frontis) and three by Jessie Willcox Smith. Paris: Charles-Antoine Jombert, 1752. HC. good+, marbled calf binding (hardcover) SEE NOTE. engraved plates all present. From a Dutch maritime firm collection, and uniform with this volume I have Maitz de Goimpy TRAITE SUR LA CONSTRUCTION DES VAISSEAUX first edition 1776. (love to sell and keep them together). This is a nice clean and tight copy, but wear to the corners of the boards, and the leather is externally cracked on the front hinge. BUT, hinge and endpapers are fine. Happy to send images of the plates, which are exceptional, and provide additional details. 423pp.

Paris, 1896. HC. very good, bound in light olive green cloth (hardcover). 12 ill. complete - see notes. Uncommon "Quarterly Report of Literature and Art" (translation of title) with about fine interior with about two faint blind stamps in each volume on text pages. Plates are bright and without faults and include: Volume I - Lithographs by Jacques-Emile Blanche; Charles Leandre; and, Maxime Dethomas; Etchings by Gustave Leheutre and Felicien Rops; and an illustration by Charles Conder. Volume II - Lithographs by Armand Point and Paul Ranson; Three Color Print by Henri Heran; Etching by Albert Besnard; and illustration by Andre Lebey. Plates described above are preceeded by tissue guards with print information. Clean and tight set, and UNCOMMON. Last time I saw an offering for this title was in 2010 at a thousand more, and not as good a condition. 130pp, 156pp.

Paris: D. C. Couturier, 1776. HC. very good, marbled calf (hardcover) wear to corners. 2 plates all present. Exceptionally clean and tight copy from a Dutch Maritime Firm Collection. Bound uniformly, and always been with, my first edition of Duhamel du Monceau ELEMENS DE L'ARCHITECTURE NAVALE, OU TRAITE PRATIQUE DE LA CONSTRUCTION DES VAISSEAUX (1752). I would love to sell these volumes together to continue their life together. Two plates as called for present, plus text tables 211pp, supple.

HC. very good, full leather (hardcover) light rubbing to leather. folding table / folding map. ...DE LA CABEZA, QUE CONTIENE EL DE LOS PAQUEBOTES SANTA CASILDA Y SANTA EULALIA PARA COMPLETAR EL RECONOCIMIENTO DEL ESTRECHO EN LOS ANOS DE 1788 Y 1789 TRABAJADO DE ORDEN SUPERIOR." An exceptionally nice copy internally of the Appendix (only) of this exploration and study of the Straits of Magellan. 128pp.

Usual offsetting on title page from the wrap around front cover. Date of Oct. 12, 1973 in small rubber stamps at top right corner of title page. 30pp.

New York: Tibor De Nagy Gallery, 1953. PB. good, wraps (softcover). 4 B&W illustrations. A scarce poetry booklet in sewn wraps, published in an edition of 300 copies. The covers are oversize and fragile, and thus this copy (as others) exhibit chipping and loss to the fragile paper covers (IMAGES AVAILABLE). A paper conservator could reinforce and repair the covers, as has been done with other copies currently for sale. This copy has been untouched, internally good plus, but with COVER FAULTS. The cover problem for this publication comes from the covers oversize and extending out from the small book block. unpaginated.

Paris: Chez Clousier, 1775. HC. very good+++, full calf, raised bands (hardcover) EXCEPTIONAL !!. engravings by C. Boissel. Title translates roughly to: "The Philosopher without Claim, or the Rare Man, Works Physical, Chemical, Political and Moral." A curious work of science fiction in which the author expounds upon his theories in physics and chemistry. A visitor from Mercury arrives on Earth ina an 'electrical flying machine' (as seen in the frontispiece). This machine is considered the first forerunner of the dynamo powered by static electricity when its two globes are rubbed with camphor. The Mercurian, Ormaris, presents Lafolie's own scientific opinions in the fields of electricity, geology, mineralogy and chemistry. In addition he scoffs the theories of the fixed air of Priestley, as well as the conversion of air into water. The author was the first to discover the yellow dyeing extracted and to successful fix it on wire of the red color of the Indies. Text in French. An exceptional copy of… Leer más

AND SUCH RIGHTS OF STATES, RELATIVE THERETO, AS ARE FOUNDED ON THE LAW OF NATIONS: ADAPTED MORE PARTICULAERLY TO THE UNITED STATES; AND INTERSPERSED WITH MORAL AND POLITICAL REFLECTIONS, AND HISTORICAL FACTS. WITH AN APPENDIX, CONTAINING SUNDRY STATE PAPERS." An exceptionally nice clean and tight copy that had been rebound (sadly in orange buckram cloth). Library spine number, but no other markings internally. 339pp, append.

London: Printed for J. Almon, 1777. HC. good+, bound in maroon cloth (hardcover) EX-LIB. ...SHEWING THE CAUSES AND PROGRESS OF THAT MISUNDERSTANDING FROM 1764 TO 1775." Usually cited as PRIOR DOCUMENTS (title too of the index), these papers were intended to accompany the 17 volumes of Almon's THE REMEMBRANCER; OR, IMPARTIAL REPOSITORY OF PUBLIC EVENTS. Howes A-179. The pages of this copy are untrimmed and bound for library use in maroon cloth. There are two archival repairs to the title page to stablize small tears. This clean and tight book block should be appropriately rebound. 280pp, index.

London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, et al.. HC. finely rebound in full brown leather, raised bands (hardcover). B&W illustrations. ...ELEVATIONS, PLANS, SECTION, AND DETAILS, OF VARIOUS ANCIENT ENGLISH EDIFICES: WITH HISTORICAL AND DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNTS OF EACH. Volume I, 1807; Volume II, 1809; Volume III, 1812; and Volume IV, 1814. Recently handsomely, matchingly rebound in full brown leather with raised bands, gilt stampings, and tooling on boards and spine. Some foxing on plates as usual (more so than text pages) due to nature of paper used. Happy to provide images. Definitely a set you would be proud to own and display, or to give. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1949. HC. good w/lightly chipped dustjacket (hardcover) SEE NOTE. B&W illustrations. This copy comes from the estate of Ursula Nordstrom that I purchased in late 1990s, and am now listing for the first time. Ursula was editor in chief of the Juvenile Department of Harper and Row from 1940-1977. This copy has full paper covered boards, including wrapping around the spine. There is a bump/break at the top of the spine. Dustjacket has $1.50 price and some chipping along the bottom. Later printings are Harper and Row. Happily provide images. unpaginated.

Cambridge, UK: published by the editor, 1986. PB. very good, single folded card stock (softcover). B&W illustrations. Uncommon Raworth item. He printed this "unique magazine" from 1986-1991. Offered here as a lot are the first forty issues. These issues are opened flat currently, but folded (as meant) measure about 4 by 5 3/4 inches.

Walpole, NH: Published by Anson Whipple, 1815. HC. good, original calf binding (hardcover) front board tad loose. ...WITH THE FORMER TRANSLATIONS DILIGENTLY COMPARED AND REVISED, BY THE SPECIAL COMMAND OF KING JAMES I. OF ENGLAND." Anson Whipple was Isiah Thomas' son-in-law, and it was Thomas who set up one of his presses in Walpole, New Hampshire. The historic building in which this Bible was printed still exists in the village center. Type setting was begun in 1810.

Spot checking it appears each issue runs 20-28 pages each with articles on all aspects of early American antiques, great ads, and great reference material. New York: Peace Eye Bookstore, 1965. PB. good, side stapled mimeographed sheets (softcover) SEE NOTE. Images and extensive detail on our website - ask for link. The FUGS' SONGBOOK is from the counterculture NYC band founded in 1964. This first edition consists of two preliminary pages followed by 27 numbered pages. Later editions were published by: The Sexual Freedom League of San Francisco (second edition); and, Artist's Workshop Press in Detroit (1966 and 67). There are some ephemeral faults - on front cover a glass stain ring and name, and a pencil drawing on the right corner. The last page (also the rear cover) is detached, and serves as the rear cover. If there was a blank leave following as a rear cover, I do not know. Again, please email for images. 27pp.
