During the convention, Nicholas describes meeting with Chicago Tribune reporter John Callan (Cal) O'Lauglin, working with his colleague Charles P. Curtis for the Roosevelt campaign and the Progressive Party, the theft of delegates by Taft Republicans and votes for Elihu Root. Commercially produced album to be sold to individuals to house a collection. Minnie O'Shea Fortescue was the mistress of Robert B. Roosevelt, TR's notorious uncle. He later married her. Minnie has collected approx. 350 monograms from family members, government officials, other dignitaries and friends. TR is of course represented. Minnie's B. Roosevelt's ownership signature in ink is on the front free fly leaf.

The heavy stock endpapers are bordered in gilt Grecian key, surrounding a Chinese figure framed in a Chinese border. Edges are untrimmed. 210, (3) pp., including table of contents and colophon page. The Beautiful Girl of Pao. a Chinese Novel... Superb Edition with Pictures by Bayros. limited to 600 copies, of which this is copy number 323. The page prior to the half-title bears a presentation from the publisher, Georg Muller, with the presentee's name partially removed. A somewhat erotic tale with commensurate illustrations.

Royal octavo; pp; xxxii, 667 with index; Frontispiece plus over two hundred seventy woodcut illustrations by Grandville; Full leather, decorated with a gilt rule border and spine decorations, at center is an oval inset of a rooster in copper with an opal set in at the bottom right, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt; The binding has been professionally rebacked, but many years ago; Intermittent foxing, predominately in the first 50 leaves, edge wear and corners worn, otherwise very good. This volume is from the home of President Theodore Roosevelt and later resided in Alice Roosevelt's home in Washington DC. It bears the bookplate of Edith Kermit Roosevelt, TR's second wife. There is a note in Edith's hand on a preliminary stating that the book was "Bound by Mrs. Flour", a second line reads, "Alice should have this". Octavo; pp. 36; full decorated pebbled black morocco; Inner dentelles, top edge gilt; lightly abraded at spine edges;. TR's State of the Union Address delivered December 7, 1903 in a Presentaion binding. An unsigned but beautifully bound copy reminiscent of a Stikeman binding. In this Address TR speaks extensively regarding the Bureau of Corporations and the laws regarding fairness in business and labor. This bureau became the basis for TR's name the "Trust-Buster". Rare.

Quarto (10 7/8" x 13 3/8"), bound in quarter mottled calf and brown cloth. Slipcase in brown cloth over boards. Top edge gilt. Raised bands with a gilt device in each panel. Dark brown leather title label. 222pp. with frontispiece portrait and 38 plates, including a map and plans. Many plates in color with tissue guards. Folding view in color. Some mechanical. This is a facsimile reprint of the 1803 edition by Britain's first professional landscape gardener.

Marbled endpapers and all edges gilt. 5 Volumes: 282; 358; 345; 386; 376pp. Each volume indexed, and with a list of three types of plates: wood engravings in the text; full page wood engravings; and steel engraved portraits of Goethe, his family, and the characters in his works. Volume I is the life of Goethe by Boyesen, and Gothe's poetry with index of first lines. Volume II is the dramas, Volume III continues drama and begins the prose. Volume IV and V continue prose. The text and illustrations are bright and clean, and the engravings are remarkably fine and precise. Minor edgewear and scuffing. The Works are published in English. Please note that the set will require shipping for approximately 40 lbs.

Scarce! A significant contribution to the TR minutia as well as to the literature of boxing, much on John L. Sullivan. Signed by Donovan on the limitation page.

Folio (12" x 15"), half blue morocco and navy cloth. 62pp. plus the plates, which are unpagiinated. 7 mildly erotic plates by Norman Lindsay. The corners and head and tail are worn, particularly the tail. There is some acid staiining where the leather turn-ins touch the endpapers. A short crack at the front bottom hinge. Quite nice and clean inside. Beautiful paper. A new translation by P. R. Stephenson. This edition is limited to five hundred and fifty copies printed on Arnold's Handmade paper. This is copy number 456.Lovely typography, in Poliphilus Type and printed in London by Botolph. The colophon page is shown in the pictures.

Sierra Madre California, 1921. Manuscript. Very good. One page. Ferris writes to O. W. Coursy of Mitchell S.D., discussing the scarcity of "The Bad Lands Cowboy", the Medora newspaper that was published when he was ranching with Roosevelt in the 1880s. The office was burned and Ferris is unaware of any copies. He had offered $5.00 for any copy the previous year without success. Sylvan Ferris was TR's foreman on his ranch in the Badlands of North Dakota. The devastating winter of 1886-87, cost TR dearly, losses totaled about sixty percent of his cattle. In 1890, Roosevelt turned the ranch entirely over to his foreman Sylvan Ferris and in 1898 sold Ferris the ranch and buildings. A rare autographed note with content dealing with the Roosevelt period in the West. An extraordinary find.
