VG-/Good. this is the COMPLETE 61 volume set, including the index volume (61). the set is uniform, though published and printed from 1964-1976, with the index added in 1980, all with the E&S logo on the spine. 61 hardcover volumes in uniformly VG- dust jackets. jackets are just a bit worn about the edges and somewhat scuffed, without any tears, though a few are price clipped. pages and binding are clean, straight and tight thoughout. a few of the volumes have very minor foxing to the outer edge. there are no marks to the text or other serious flaws. many have likely never seen any use at all, and such use as has occurred was limited and gentle. this is a very nice example of this now quite scarce set.

FIRST EDITION set of five octavo books bound in blue cloth with gilt spine text & a gilt image of Cook in profile on front board. All books feature burlap dust-jackets ; color of which ranges from blue to gray. Overall the books themselves are in very good (VG-) condition, with intact dust-jackets in good (G+) condition. All jacket spines feature noticeable rubbing, sunfading, and creasing, with wear, some of which approaches minor tears, across the top of most spines. Minor (~1mm) tears along base of book one, book three, book four. All jackets feature small worn square on upper right of jacket front (likely sticker of previous proprietor). Books one and two are price-clipped. No others in set are price-clipped. Most books feature sunfading along interior edge of end-flaps. Edinburgh: John Grant, 1950. Leather. VG-. 12 Volume set in green cloth, quarter bound in green leather with red striping and gold embossing on the spines. The green on the spines is sun faded but the red and gold remain bright. Some rubbing to covers and edges. Pages are slightly browned with age. Volume one of 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' has some water staining to the lower portion of the text block for the last half of the book but the pages are not warped. 6 of the 12 volumes have the book plate of a previous owners on the face of the ffep, there is a small previous owner name stamp on the top rear of the the ffep of all 12 volumes. The edges of the endpapers are browned where they have been in contact with the leather. Bindings are straight and tight. There are no marks to the text or other serious flaws.

Used hardcover set of 7 volumes bound in red cloth/vinyl issued without jackets; Gilt lettering and adornments to spines for titles; both B/W & Colour illustrations. No bookplates, no inscriptions. Volumes are all in similarly good condition with varying wear between them in small, ways that are not described; however large blemishes are noted here. At some places the dark red cloth has brightened or chipped along edges and hinges as expected. There is also some wear, barely down to board in some sections, at the top and bottom of spine and the corners from bumping and shelfuse. Bindings are cocked as a matter of cloth binding style and length of volumes as well as age, however this does not appear to significantly weaken the binding. Page blocks are generally clean with a few spots of dirt/blemishes, all pages blocks are cut on all sides. There are no markings to the texts or other serious flaws.

Textblock and binding are strong and sturdy throughout with no marks or marring on pages whatsoever. Aside from dust jacket missing this is a good copy of an important work. No serious flaws aside those mentioned above.
