Bantam Books 1148, 249 pp; very slight hint of cocking, minor rubbing to spine edges, small crease to tip of front cover upper corner, previous owner had habit of writing his name in ink on first page & marking a small "x" near upper right corner of front cover in pencil to indicate he had read the book; otherwise, a tight, attractive copy of this sought-after vintage paperback. This would appear to be a rare Canadian edition, as it indicates a first printing, but shows a 35-cent cover price.

Stated Canadian first, blue cloth with lime-green stamping, 396 pp, very light rubbing to spine bottom edge & board tips, very short tear & rubbing to top spine edge, portions of the dj flaps (biographical info on Montgomery) have been neatly pasted on the front endpapers, also a little lifting from small decorative stickers that have been removed from endpapers, clipped newspaper photo of Montogomery pasted on rear pastedown; very minor foxing to few pages' else a tight, square G+/VG- copy. Copy # 119 of a limited, specially bound edition of 201 copies signed by Thatcher, grey cloth spine with mauve & gold stamping, mauve cloth on boards, in a slipcase covered in mauve cloth, xiv, 656 pp, illus, index; spine shows a little toning with some light rubbing to stamping, the cloth on one side of the slipcase has slightly peeled away and shows some edge wear & rubbing. Slipcase shows little light rubbing at corners, also a little soiling. A must-have item for the Howard or Frazetta collector, featuring more than 100 Frazetta sketches. [10]

Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. xi, 200 pp.; frontis features a tipped-in photo (presumably an albumen print) of Walt Whitman, there is also another illustration plate with tissue guard; the boards show a little soiling with very minor bumping to edges, some soiling to page edges, some evidence of dampstaining to the upper edge of the front endpapers and the first few pages, dated inscription to previous owner (not by author) on first blank page, owner or inscriber has also neatly written a note on Whitman's comments on the book on the inside rfep, some marginal marks in pencil, else a nice, tight copy of a rare and important book. Overall a solid copy of a very rare New Zealand utopian novel.

Hayward's Celebrated Novels (selling for 2 shillings) series, [undated but c. 1874-79], 340 pp, boards show some edge wear/rubbing, minor bumps, toning to endpapers, ffep missing small edge pieces, interior pages clean, this is an ex-library copy with the following markings, etc.: library call number on lower spine (white ink), two library labels on front pastedown, sticker & check-out slip on ffep; there is an original bookplate on the front pastedown visible under a library label, this bookplate is from the library of the renowned British occultist Arthur Edward Waite, making this an interesting association copy of an extremely rare book. This Hayward potboiler is among the earliest novels depicting Confederate naval operations.
