The jacket is chipped at extremities of the backstrip and has a few other tiny chips; good to very good. The framed certificate of appreciation is somewhat rippled and there is some fading to some of the signatures. . 8vo (and framed artwork measuring 25 x 21 inches overall),. Fresh and bright: better then very good, in a very good jacket with the usual rubbing and edgewear.. 8vo,. This book was a gift for Helen Grotke, who was the schoolteacher on the motion picture set tutoring the school-age actors. Inscribed by Harper Lee and twelve members of the cast, including Gregory Peck, Robert Duvall and the children. Many of the actors have written the names of their characters under their inscriptions. Mary Badham's reads, "To Miss Grotke, my favorite teacher. Mary Badham (Scout)."

A few pieces of the inside of the jacket have been neatly removed. There is some slight edgewear, not affecting the lettering or design. The backstrip of the jacket is only very slightly faded, the yellow and green parts of the design intact. This, in our experience, is extremely unusual; we have only had one or two copies of this uncommon book as good as this one. . 8vo,. Author's first novel.

Hemingway was photographed by Man Ray in 1923, as were many writers and artists in Paris at the time.
