Personal gift inscription written on endpaper as he was making a gift of the book to a personal friend stating this was the favorite book of all he had written that he enjoyed writing the most. Also in an envelope there is a personal letter written to the same person he gifted the book, in the letter he describes his very serious illness close escape from his demise. This letter was written on a piece of his wife's stationary but is clearly written and signed by Henry Howard Harper.
