Spine is loose. Corners worn. Sepia photo of Osler, with his signature below, is laid in. Hinges cracked with webbing showing on the back hinge. Corners worn to board. All pages tight. Some underlining with a ruler in the section on cardiology.

Call number on the spine and inside front cover. City Library property stamp on title page and page 99. Accession number 56 is on page 99 and the inside back cover. Front and back hinges have been repaired with cloth tape. Edited by Ellis Paxson Oberholtzer, Ph. D. Black and white picture of John Brown with his signature on frontispiece. Tissue cover has a tear. Tanned shadow of previous card pocket on inside back cover and facing endpage. Small pieces of cloth missing at top and bottom of the spine. Gilt top edge. Bottom corners worn to board.

Maroon cloth covered boards with gilt text on cover and spine. Glenn G. Munn was a security analyst with Paine, Webber & Company in 1930. 'The chief factors influencing speculative swings in the market are treated clearly and specifically, and the 1929 debacle is logically explained so that the lessons learned there may be applied in the future.' Parts of the original jacket have been taped to the front end pages with tape that has yellowed. Previous owners name has been taped on also. Spine has darkened. Back cover has a vertical line with the cover being smooth on the right of the line and darker and rougher to the left of the line. Probably shelved with another item covering the right half of the back cover.

Includes all 3 volumes of the Great Monarchies, plus the Sixth Monarchy and the Seventh Monarchy. The Seventh Monarchy is two volumes bound in one volume. This is the second edition. No date on the title page, but the preface is to the Second Edition and dated 1870. Light wear to corners. Top and bottom of the spines are creased. Hinges are good, except the back hinge of the Sixth Monarchy, which is starting to split. Pages tight. No markings.

This is an essay by Oscar Wilde evaluating the history of literary criticism.

First 200 pages of volume one had to be reprinted because of insect damage. Reprinted pages are on parchment and very easy to read. The set looks like new. A great historical find.
