Page illustrations taken from DORE'S engravings, cover water color illustration by LAWRENCE DURRELL. Soft cover: illustrated thin card covers, front edges slightly rubbed and bumped, corners slightly bumped, thin dark green flyleaves + 27 pages off-white quality paper, pages are clean, vg. 4to (240x190mm). Designed and printed by Noel Young. This copy belongs to a softcover limited edition of 800. A further 200 were hand bound and signed and numbered by the author. The text comes from the author's "Spirit of Place, Letters and Essays on Travel".

Hardback: cartoons (4 on each page) by ROLAND CLIBBORN, dj (trimmed on edges and loosely laid down on matching paper), a little dusty and traces of sticky tape, typed title label pasted on spine, light grey boards with large pictorial onlay (as dj), edges slightly rubbed, inscription (dated Cairo 1945) and tear on flyleaf, flyleaves darkened, some foxing, one page corner creased, still vg. small 4to, 113pp. Newspaper cartoons for children. 4 episodes: The thief of Horse Academy - The great bicycle race .. - The missing mouse - Curly Wee and the dragon. This edition made possible by special arrangement with the author and the artist and special co-operation with Newspaper Features and the Independent Newspapers Ltd, Dublin.

Calf spines with gilt lettering and raised bands, calf corners, marbled boards lightly rubbed in patches, edges a bit worn. Page edges marbled (faded), some internal foxing, vg. 4to, 832 + 840pp. Volume I is dated 1863, Volume II dated 1864..

Hardback: illustrated in colour by the author, colour pictorial boards have quite a few indentations and some bubbling, spine tips and corners slightly bumped, internally vg. oblong 4to, unpaginated. Toby was fed up with everything until he walked right through the mirror in his own house into a different world.

Very Good/Very Good. dj (price unclipped) has a few rust spots on front and some foxing, edges slightly rubbed, date stamp on front flap, some red ink scribble on back flap, colour pictorial boards (as dj) slightly spotted on the front, spine tips and corners lightly rubbed, several pages have small red date stamps, some foxing and a few other marks, still vg. 24mo (100x120mm), 80pp. A nice copy of the scarce 1st edition with dustjacket.

Paperback: illustrated in colour (covers and pop-up) and b/w (story) by KUBASTA, colour pictorial covers are slightly rubbed on the edges, corners and spine tips are bumped, the cloth on the cover folds is faded, spine tips are slightly worn, shop stamp on the lower edge of the first page, staples are rusting, last page has a few marks, the magnificent pop-up is in very good condition but has some faults: the tabs for pulling the horses have some creasing and one has a tape repair, one of the horses is creased and has a short tear, the castle doors are creased but the windows still have the cellophane - overall in g/vg condition. Freddy was a Fell engine, especially good at climbing hills. But when the people of Cross Creek made a tunnel through the hill and bought a fast Diesel engine to pull the train, Freddy had nothing to do ....

Kenwood Giles, thick card covers are lightly foxed, edges are a bit rubbed, spine tips and corners slightly bumped and worn, remains of a sticker on the top front corner, some very light internal foxing, page corners are lightly bumped and a few of the lower page corners have been torn off (small), middle page loose, still vg. obl folio, (16pp). The giraffe has a crick in his neck and calls for Doctor Leo to cure him. .
