London, The Sun Engraving Company Ltd, 1920 Paper covers, An illustrated calendar with illustrations by Paul and John Nash and Rupert Lee.One illustration (woodcut) per month with poetry on facing page by such poets as Blake,Sitwell,Herrick, Whitman,Thomas and Huxley. An early example of Nash's work and needless to say a scarce one, Yellow paper covers. A Very Good copy. The month of may has a couple of ink smudges to calendar and there is a 1" tear closed to top of facing page not affecting text but just creeping into John Nash illustration for June.

Cream cloth, black titles to spines and pictorial dustjackets; in stiff clear polymer outer jackets; uniform folios, 32 x 25.5cm. The magnificent Poligrafa presentation of the entire lithographic oeuvre of Joan Miró, with 36 original whole page or double page colour lithographs produced by the artist for this edition and printed by Mourlot. The other suites of lithographs are reproduced in colour or (the earliest ones) in black and white. Texts (all in Spanish) by the Surrealist writer Michel Leiris and the printer Fernand Mourlot (Vol.1, 1972) ; Raymond Queneau (Vol.2, 1975) ); Joan Teixidor (Vol.3, 1977) and Nicolas & Elena Calas(Vol.4, 1981). A Very Good+ set. Clean covers, pages and jackets, some bumps to corners with creasing to jacket corners where this occurs. A little surface dirt and fraying to outer clear jacket spines; Vol.4 lacks the clear jacket. Pictures available

Full contemporary or near contemporary leather, gilt title to black leather label on spine, and gilt border lines to spine. border lines to spine. Unpaginated octavo, 22 x 13.5cm. All the pages fold out concertina style, horizontally, with a map on each side of the page. Prelim pages (also folding) consist of title page bearing engraving and dedication to the Duke of Argyll, then Index of the Cities, Towns and Villages on the Great Roads, then A List of the Stages of the Great Roads, then 61 engraved maps of the roads showing towns and villages, topographical features, distances etc. Plate 1 is the road from Edinburgh to Berwick upon Tweed. The pages of this copy are in very good , clean and unfoxed condition, and well-bound. There is light l browning to front edges of the maps. Book Vol.2: 568pp. With 6 hand-coloured engraved fold-out maps dated Sept. 1795. A total of 17 lovely hand-coloured engraved maps, as called for. Each volume: 21.5 x 14cm. A Very Good set. Covers are worn and rubbed, particularly to spines. Bindings sound, with slight splits to external joints of Vol.2, and two pages partly loose in vol.1. Top page edges darkened. No ownership inscriptions. The maps are in very good condition, with some browning, and offsetting to adjacent leaves. London, William Heinemann, 1898 Hardcover, second impression September 1898 ( First published November 1897) A series of 26 coloured woodblock engravings commencing with A is for Artist and ending with Z is for Zoologist. Content, clean and bright without tears or inscriptions. The covers are worn to edges and all of the spine is missing . the front board is just attached but loose. The cover illustration also from a woodblock print is however clean . Scarce. A Fair copy cover -wise but with Very Good contents . Pictures available

Superb engravings by John Sturt from Designs of the great masters. A Very Good clean copy bound in full leather with six panelled spine . London: James Wyld, 1850 Map. Engraved on paper laid onto linen, in 16 panels, 46 x 79cm opened out, with green cloth edges and blue and white marbled paper backing to outer panels when folded, folding into slip case of card covered in purple cloth with title label. Scale: 10 miles to 2.5 inches (or 6cm). The map has some original hand-colouring (coasts and borders) and a nice engraved title with pictorial motifs around it. The main map is of the island, with an inset showing it's location in the Gulf of St.Lawrence and a panel of statistics of the county divisions. Very Good map in Very Good slip case. Map is generally clean and bright, with light browning to centre fold, and a few small marks and spots. Back of linen has some small marks and stain spots. Slip case is lightly rubbed to edges, and has some browning and fading. Nice copy

London: Virtue and Company, c.1880 First edition. Volumes 2 and 3 only. Undated but circa 1880. HB. Red textured cloth with leather spines and corners, gilt titles and decorations to spine, gilt borders to main covers; all edges gilt. Large Folio volumes. The two volumes contain 80 Superb full page plates engraved from Turner's paintings by various engravers.Maoinly British Views but with some seascapes and some mythological scenes. Each engraving is printed on card, with a guard leaf, and is followed by a half page of text by Monkhouse. Only volume 3 has a title page, and it has yellow endpapers, whereas vol.2 has marbled endpapers. (the title page of vol.2 was perhaps not present, as it does not appear to have been lost). Good condition overall. The contents are very good, with clean pages with only occasional handling marks or light brown spots, except for the prelims of Vol 3 which have heavier foxing; the plates are well printed sharp and bright. Biographical accounts of many distiguished women, from Julian of Norwich in the fourteenth century to Constantia Grierson in the eighteenth century, including some Queens of England. Good condition overall: the covers are Fair only but the contents Very Good; worn and scuffed covers with frayed corners and small losses to spine ends and to title panel ; binding is sound. Some marks & spots to pages but generally clean, some are generally browned.

New York, The Viking Press,1962 Hardcover book, first edition (U.S.) in dusjacket, Signed and dated by Graham Greene to title page -Oct. 63. No dedication. This was Julian Jebb's copy (Literary critic and film producer) with his signed book plate to front endpaper. Two journals that greene wrote on trips to the Belgian Congo in 1959 and to West Africa in 1941 which were used for the basis of his novels A Burnt Out Case and The Heart of the Matter. Enclosed is a letter from Jebb's partner explaining the background to the collection he was disposing of. A Very Good copy in a Very Good dustjacket with light edge wear. Covers slightly faded. Bound in quarter vellum by Parkers of Oxford , marbled endpapers with clear plastic wraps over the original worn acetate wraps with cream paper flaps. A Fine copy. With a total of 54 engravings, as called for, in full page plates of 'the most curious monuments of antiquity', three hand-coloured, and including a double page map of Hertfordshire. This map appears in Vol.1. at the specified place in the binder's directions, though is dated 1827 (printed by Nichols), and Vol.1. also contains an engraving dated 1824. Each volume contains the number of plates specified. Vol. 1: 526pp, and 106pp appendix and index. Vol. 2: 554pp, and 73pp appendix & index. Vol.3: 619pp , and 52pp index.
