London & Vancouver: Bloomsbury / Raincoast Books, 2007. - First Edition, Canadian issue which consisted of the First British edition, ( Bloomsbury ) with the Canadian issue of the dj - ( Raincoast ) This edition came about at her only Toronto reading & signing at the Winter Garden Theatre on October 23rd 2007. This is one of only 950 copies that she signed for chosen attendee's & with the publisher's security hologram on the upper title page & signature at the bottom. [ the publisher & author created and used this tamper proof hologram to counteract an online market that had become sodden with fake signatures.] This copy from Rowling's only Canadian appearance includes all the ephemera, a 16 x 24 inch full colour poster, the original Winter Garden's ticket, 2 bookmarks and a magic do-not-open door knob hanger ( keep out ). Signed J. F. Grabau binding, deep brown three quarters gilt stamped morocco, 6 panel gilt stamped and decorated spine ( leaf & crown ) as pictured, TEG, ribbon marker - Grabau was considered Buffalo NY's finest design binder who had several of his own binderies, as well as doing fine bindings for the Roycroft Bindery [ 1902 to 1905 ] - signed & inscribed to D. N. Lockwood by the author - Lockwood's son donated a half million dollars and his personal substantial Rare Book collection to establish the Lockwood Memorial Library, at UB. The author, Samuel Cox was an American Congressman & Diplomat who represented Ohio and NY in the House of Representatives. NY: Harper and Brothers, 1910. - rare work of American Intercollegiate football fiction written by someone eminently qualified for the job - Alden Arthur Knipe was the 6th head football coach at the University of Iowa from 1892 to 1902 & was himself one of the great football players of the 19th century - he played at the University of Pennsylvania under the legendary coach George W. Woodruff - in 1894 Knipe led his team to a perfect 12-0 record - Woodruff referred to Knipe as the greatest player he ever coached - after a long and sucessful football career, he ignored his medical degree & along with his wife was the author of numerous children's sports related fiction - this is his rare first book & a lovely copy, name on the front paste-down, else fine in pictorial tan cloth, the correct first binding..
