Ulster County, January 1800. Very Good/Unknown. The Bible is folio size, falling apart, many loose pages. Probably taken here from England by one of early settlers. Could be 1600's or 1700's, no date on it. It has black boards with raised ribs. Many woodcut illustrations. The paper is from Ulster County, Ulster County Gazette, somewhere back East, in January 1800 announcing the death of the first president, General Washington, on December 14, 1799, and is in very good condition assuming its 500 years old. It tells of the national mourning and events that took place.

The first edition of this landmark study of sexual habits, and one of the most influential books of the 20th century. This landmark study has had lasting influence. Preceded by numerous animal studies, moralistic marriage guides, several narrowly focused human research studies, and less than comprehensive study by Sigmund Freud and Havelock Ellis, `The Kinsey Report' was the first comprehensive study of human sexuality ever published, and made sex a subject that could be talked about openly. Using 5, 300 male subjects and nearly 8, 000 female subjects, Kinsey compiled over 1, 600 pages of data. Sets of the first editions together have become uncommon.

Large 3/4 bound leather and black boards with gilt lettering oblong book (10 x 14) that looks like a regular photograph album, Some wear to cover and first few endpapers have stains, no photos affected. Back of spine, leather is off but it is still tight. Pink marbled endpapers. The American Navy in the late 1800's. Very scarce book! Each section has an introduction, explanation of the photographs, and a description under each photograph. These are reproductions of the origiinal photos. Each is full page. There are probably 500 photos including Naval Court of Inquiry and many old ships. A very rare glimpse into early photography and these places at the end of the 19th century.

All page edges gilt. Frontis of Moses under tissue (which is quite foxed), The beatitudes in gold leaf opposite frontis. Title page is lengthy, gives Bible plus concordance, 100, 000 marginal references and readings and Dr. William Smith's bible dictionary plus a history of all religious denominations, apocrypha and psalms in Metre, with revised New Testament, Old King James version and Revised version arranged in parallel columns for comparison. Over 2000 scripture illustrations on Steel, wood and in color. Very rare Bible and interior is VG. Spine has tears along edges and is taped on one side. Book weighs about ten pounds.
