Boston, MA, U.S.A.: New England Free Press, 1972. First Edition Later Printing 2nd Printing. Soft cover. Very Good. Precursor to the book of the same name (with a slightly different subtitle) that would become a cornerstone of the second-wave feminist movement of the 1970s, breaking all kinds of barriers that stood in the way of women taking control of their own bodies & health. Born at a 1969 workshop entitled, "Women and Their Bodies," it was first published by the Boston Women's Health Course Collective & printed by the New England Free Press in that same city in 1971. We believe that this is the Second Printing (described as "New Printing of Women & Their Bodies" on the front cover), described by the editors as having been "rushed to print with no revisions since the first printing sold out so quickly." In a brief editorial note on the Table of Contents page, they outline revisions they plan to make in the upcoming 3rd printing, & reach out to… Leer más

London, England: Newnes, 1936. First British Edition . Hardcover. Good/Poor. Author's second mystery featuring Judge Peck, again set in Sac Prairie, Wisconsin (the author's home). It is a scarce Derleth title with the even scarcer DJ featuring the fantastic cover image (unattributed) of a naked figure on all fours (presumably the man of the title, but quite curvaceous & feminine looking) holding a gun. N.d., but it has all the correct points (Currey) of the First British Edition, First Printing, from 1936, published two years after the first American edition. With green cloth-covered boards, stamped in black lettering to front & spine, this hardcover small 8vo is in Good condition, with soiling/fading to spine, mild spotting to exterior lower page edge & scattered spotting (both soil & foxing) in text. Independence, Missouri: Herald House, 1948. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Fair/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Autobiographical account by at least one (Whiting) direct descendant of Alpheus Cutler (1784-1864), an early follower of Joseph Smith who founded the Church of Jesus Christ in 1853--the Cutlerites--& served as its president. The book details how he instructed them to seek "the land between two lakes" & establish the township of Clitherall, MN, where they were to await the coming of the "Moses Man" who would lead them back to Zion. Whiting would go on to write other books about the Cutlerites & the region, & was active in the St. Paul community until she died in 2020 at the age of 93. Also chronicled is the story of the Whitlow family & their involvement with the Cutlerites. 1989. First Edition Later Printing . No Binding. As New. Gorey, Edward. Set of 20 laminated cards that, when shuffled, tell a story in a multitude of ways, each card featuring the wonderfully droll characters (all with names starting with "A") of Edward Gorey. The set contains a foldover title sheet identifying this as the Fourth Printing of a limited edition set of 500 (this is NOT the later Pomegranate reprint, but the original). It is SIGNED by GOREY on this limitation page. This set has been on my personal shelves since purchased Brand New from Gotham Book Mart in 1989, still sealed with cello tape at sides of box (I opened one side to verify that it was a signed set). As such, it is As New: pristine in an equally fine clear soft plastic case, which show some toning/beginning opacity, but it has been stored in a glass-fronted barrister's bookcase & not exposed to environment elements; nonsmoking household. Quite scarce, especially in this pristine condiition. Our photos depict… Leer más
