Author, title, and date in gilt on spine. New plain end papers. Some minor tanning on title page and final page. One inch damp stain lower right corner throughout. Previous binder's stitch marks visible left margin. Otherwise, pages are very clean with a fox mark here or there. Book now protected in mylar. Nicholas Rowe is considered the first editor of Shakespeare and published the first 18th Century edition of Shakespeare in six volumes in 1709. "The Tragedy of Jane Shore" professedly an imitation of Shakespeare's style, was played at Drury Lane with Mrs. Oldfield in the title role in 1714. Front and rear cloth boards still have original sheen, spine not as much. Top and bottom of spine and all corners and edges are in excellent condition showing almost no wear. Interior joints are not cracked. Original book sellers label from Salem on free end paper. Previous owner's name with "Christmas 1863" noted. Very light offsetting from frontispiece through tissue guard to title page which is common for this book. Interior is as clean as the day it was printed. Book is tight, square and solid. One plate is damaged along the fold out edge with tears and edge pieces missing. Binding is a bit soiled with three small stains on the rear cover. Inner front hinge is cracked but holding strong. Internally the book is clean. A number of ships are marked as "sold" in pencil in the register of ships. Ex-German passenger vessels are listed. Ships are also listed according to size, type, change in names, and ships that have been lost. Fold out map of the world shows fueling stations. Fold out plates of ships are very detailed showing elevations, sections, and plans. Details such as ship specifications, location of rooms and number of crew and passengers are noted. The book is protected in mylar. A very scarce item.

Original purple P cloth (pebbled) as noted in Borst. Protected in mylar. Binding is much better than average with almost no wear to the tips and with very minor wear to the top and bottom of the spine, no real chips or tears. The purple color on the spine has faded to a light brown, but still providing enough contrast to read the gilt title across the room. BAL binding C, sequence not determined. Interior of the book is clean and tight. No previous owner's names. An above average, attractive copy. BAL 20115.

Two volumes housed in a slipcase with a paper label title. The first volume is a descriptive soft cover 12 page volume in French by Dortu noting that this Marine Album is limited to an edition of 550 copies of which this is number 453. The second, cloth covered, hard cover volume is an apparent facsimile of an early sketch book or album by Toulouse-Lautrec. Within are many reproductions of pencil and watercolor sketches. The front cover has an image of a dog and the rear the image of a sailor. Marbled end papers have a former owner's book plate on the front free end paper. The album is very clean and in near fine condition with a cracked front inner hinge and minor looseness of the first signature. In both Chinese and English. Book protected in a clear plastic jacket. Binding is light green cloth with gilt titles in Chinese and English. In perfect condition, no previous owner's names or marks. Known as P'u of the North whereas the famous Chang Dai-chien was known as Chang of the South. Includes a biography of P'u Hsin-yu, alias the hermit of the western mountain with photos of him at work. Lauded as "The Last Great Scholar Painter" due to his accomplishments in the Three Perfections of Chinese art, poetry, calligraphy, and painting. A very scarce book.

Washington: Office of Printers to House of Reps., 1851. Hardcover. Good. 8vo. 473 pages. Book protected in mylar. 3/4 leather binding is worn with loss at top and bottom of the spine. Interior of book is clean with slight browning on a few pages. Previous owner's name on the title page. Many inventions and claims listed. This is the scarce Part I, Arts and Manufactures with the engraved specimen by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch, & Edison opposite the title page. A currency specimen showing the high quality engraving which RWH&E was known for and set the standard for in U.S. stamps and currency. Currency specimen has light browning around the edge and a couple of very small spots. A scarce item.
