Title page. Trimmed just outside the borders. Appears to be a title page pre-publishing (?), with small map, coat of arms, and title tablet excised, replaced with contemporary notes in ÒWillem HenskesÓ hand (?). Henskes was an authority on Dutch books in the 18th century. It is rare, but few books of the period were bound with such things as the coat of arms and title lacking from the engraving, so that the owner could personalize it for themselves. Mounted at corners on larger plain leaf, suitable for framing, or to match with another copy. From the famous Friesland Atlas, the first atlas of the Dutch province of Friesland. Though the front cover lists 98 engravings we believe it to be error and the book stands complete.RIBA catalog matches with 95 plates. With original poetry by Sir Walter Scott.
