Two scuffs to paper at jacket rear panel. Minor foxing. Crease to bottom corner of a few pages. Text is clean and unmarked, frontispiece. First Edition is stated, first issue jacket present. An inscription as vibrant and humble as would be expected of Guthrie; written upside down, one can picture the book being handed to Guthrie and him signing before rotating the book. Guthrie tells the recipient, Marshall, "I hope you find some real 'fight' in this book..." Inscription is dated to April 1943, a few weeks after the book's publication. First Printing is stated. A brilliant association, inscribed "for von Quine." The inscription appropriately appears to read "van Quine," "Van" being the name Quine was known by to those close to him. Quine and Skinner were colleagues at Harvard, and this lovely inscription captures a moment in the crossing lives of these two highly influential figures. ; Signed and inscribed by the author, B. F. New York: Literary Guild, 1934. Vintage Copy. Hardcover. Richard Feynman's personally owned volume, annotated in his hand on two pages of the text on the theme of Christianity and science. Annotated by Feynman: "Christianity has always been a detriment to civilization and especially to scientific knowledge . This has spread in spite of Christianity" ; second annotation reads "Too bad U.S. has to be famous for bigotry." Blunt insights from a man who seldom strayed into direct commentary on religious subjects. The Feynman's bookplate is also inside the front cover, with the Confucian quote "Learning without thought is labour lost; thoughts without learning is perilous." Volume has been well-used, presumably by Feynman while a graduate student. Condition is Fair, bound in full blue cloth. Tearing to cloth exterior, scuffing to cloth, hinge has started. 8vo, 8 1/2"h x 5 1/2"w. Volume is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

No date. Near Fine, single page from watermarked Hotel Belles-Rives paper, typed and boldly signed by Marc Chagall. Toning to bottom edge of paper, minimal wear, very well-preserved. One corrected typed character, covered with white-out. An unusual and emotive artist statement/poem, by Chagall, based on his work "The Apparition (1917-1918)," describing in beautiful imagery a "dream" "evoked" in Chagall. Chagall had reported that the painting was based his memory of a dream while a student; this statement either stands in captivating juxtaposition with that original dream, or is an allusion to, or perhaps description of, that dream. Weak crease to jacket crown at front panel. Group of stains inside front cover, appears to be from adhesive used in manufacturing process (see photos). Text is clean and unmarked. A wonderful association, inscribed "Ed Wilson kindred spirit," providing an affectionate snippet of the relationship between these two major figures in the history of the natural sciences. Both men spent time at Harvard. Heavy edge wear at both spine edges and some creasing and smudging to jacket. Lean to spine. Inked number on top corner of front end page. Dust jacket is the original, though it has been attached to the pastedowns; rear flap partially pulled away at the top edge which has slightly torn some of the paper on the rear pastedown. A few stains to edges of pages 3-20. No markings to text. This is the second Nero Wolfe novel, a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone, incredibly scarce in the original jacket. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.

No markings to text, profusely illustrated with color plates throughout. Text is completely in Russian with the exception of one essay in English on Russian Icon history. Folio, 1 1/2"h x 9 1/2"w. Condition is Very Good, bound in original pictorial beige cloth and music sheet illustrated end papers; with a Very Good price clipped dust jacket. All corners of flaps are clipped, however "first edition" statement remains intact on front flap. Edge wear to jacket, including minor chipping to jacket crown at spine. A few instances of repair from jacket interior, no visible influence to jacket exterior. Subtle instance of rubbing to top corner of half title page. No markings to text. Binding is intact and tight. 8vo. Overall, a clean and solid copy of the First Edition with the original First Issue jacket in bright condition. Steinbeck's masterpiece, which also won the Pulitzer Prize.

This Olympia Le-Tan Book Clutch has dimensions of 8" x 5 3/4" x 1 1/2" and each 'book' produced is limited to only 16, this being 16 out of 16 (embroidered on back cover of clutch). The clutch is made from canvas with hand embroidered silk thread and felt appliqué details, brass structure and Liberty print lining. Single slit pocket at interior wall with a clasp closure at side and gold-tone hardware. Brass shows slight tarnishing from age. Included with the clutch are its original Olympia Le-Tan packaging (pink bag, box and tag). Packaging has noticeable wear and scuffing.
